Difference between 1.3 mpi and 1.3 gt?

Featured Replies

LOL - notches in the g40 pistons are where valves have hit it in the past. They are smooth as factory!

lol sorry mate but them notches are way to deep to be valve hitting the piston and i have seen plenty of g40 piston with these also every piston in my engine has these you couldn't see them before cleaning the pistons because of carbon build up also the valves dont sit at an angle to be able to put a notch in like that

Lol sorry mate but they are notches - you must have only seen fecked g40 pistons then as they dont have valve cut outs - well not in the 8 or so stock g40 engines I've had. As can be seen here

The only fecked g40 engine i had recieved a cambelt snap at about 80 mph and had the same marks as yours.

if you want i'll post a photo of some clean and not damaged g40 pistons tonight.

g40 pistons DO NOT have valve cut outs as standard, definitely 100% certain of that.

it looks like a g40 block and pistons to me - dish looks the same, it just looks like its had valves hit this pistons with some force.

You'll be able to tell by the engine code on it.

Unfortunately at least one of the pistons in the link also look like they've had valve contact.

yeah it does, they need cleaning up to see just how bad the damage is.

their is no engine code on any of my engines iv got 4 engines and not one with a code unless you know what part numbers are on the engines?

will just have to trim them a little to give me a bit more combustion chamber risky but i dont care lol i only paid £100 for the bock and pistons and am thinkin of 1w any way now as I'm planning a trim to europe to buy a 1w polo to run on cookin oil lol

Bwhahahahaha, this is hilarious.

So I must have had four G40 engines that did not have G40 pistons in either then. Damn I wish my G40 pistons had notches in. I must have had some weird freak engines too that had engine codes on the side of them too.

Bloody enthusiasts ripping me off.

lol the engine you sold me is a gt but the box aint so why tell me its gt?

you tell me were the fook your engine codes are then cos every one says there on the side of the block yer g40's are but the auto data say;s all the others are on the front of the block

that gt block dont have no engine code on and 5 people off this forum have looked and cant find it

tell you what sam when i see your v5 that states that your car was a gt then i will beleive that you sold me a 3f engine and box simple

Dont let me upset you when I say I dont believe you about the gearbox. How do you know?

Thanks for the apology for the slanderous comments about it not being a GT block too, you should really get your facts straight before shooting your mouth off. Who are these five people? Are they as reliable as you?

Not that I need to prove anything because you clearly dont know what you are talking about but this is the car that engine came out of. You wont see the engine number of the GT lump on the V5 anymore because it will have the G40 engine number on there that is now in that car. I declare things properly you see not just running round in an illegal car like you have stated you do in another thread.

i dont no what I'm talking about lol I'm a fully qualified mechanic

i aint no lil rich kid at the end of the day and would you pay over £3000 insurance for a car that is worth £250?

so if you know so much about these polo's why did't you tell me that it was a gear box off a 1.3spi? thats false advertising in my book

how do you know its of an spi? i told you in the thread about it - if you could show the engine code or box code and it wasn't gt, then i'd refund you the money - but you never replied!! hmm funny that.

autodata is wrong -its under the thermostat housing.

you 'aint not rich kid' maybe - not many of us are in here or we'd be part of club porsche. But you are driving with invalid insurance, plain and simple. And you say in another thread you'll 'pull the engine out after a crash' - how would you do that in a coma?

And for a fully qualified mechanic you have owned 4 g40 engines, but still dont know what g40 pistons look like and can't even find a gearbox or engine code?!?

right this thread is pointless, quite clearly Gaz_golf_gti has no idea what he is on about, qualified mechanic? I'm not a qualified mechanic but i know everything you are saying in this thread is utter comedy.

I've been on this forum for years, and pete and sam are both reputable sellers, you are clearly in the wrong here, and just embarrassing yourself with your unknowledgeable replies

i advise you to ask a mechanic with any future questions, or ask in the technical section here

I'm going to leave this thread open, as it is mildly entertaining to read

and thanks for boosting my insurance premium too

Well he's obviously read this thread and ignored it again and started another thread in the meantime. He'd rather carry on slandering than closing the matter. Not on imo.

This is surely a piss take right?

And just to slay any possible doubt reamaining in your mind about peoples 'duff advice' on here....

Mk2G40block-1.jpg

A genuine mk2 polo G40 block with smooth pistons and engine number (albeit on top on mk2 polo engines)

oh nic don't confuse matters more lol

Pub talkers man... how on earth could you refute that those damaged pistons weren't done by valves

Clearly ain't a mechanic!

Gaz generally does know what hes talking about with alot of things , however the only thing that could have done that damage is valve to piston contact , and the fact thats its not on every piston clearly backs that up.

The only other things that could have caused it is someone bashing it with a valve sized hammer for now reason lol.

Max

right have contacted the lad who i got the block off and yes the cam belt snapped yer might be a mechanic but dont no everything about every fookin car and to be quit honest who does no everythin about every car? I'm basicaly a noob when it comes to the g40 and i had never seen another set of g40 pistons apart from mine

Edited by Gaz_golf_gti

I'm not bothered about that, I want to know why you think the box is still from a 1 litre. Its a perfectly reasonable question surely?

notches in pistons aside...

got a picture (if you could call it that) of the engine. doesn't look like it has a vacuum advance so i'm guessing it's probably a GT?

has the inlet attached with injectors aswell
