Hi All,

My brother's just bought himself a lovely 1989 Polo Saloon, engine code is apparently '2G0', 1300 5 speed

The oil pressure sensor is leaking, I rang Cambridge VW who said even though the reg brings back the VIN, model etc, they arent able to tell which oil pressure switch they should supply me with. Apparently there are 3 types which all read a different pressure bar

Any ideas where i might be able to get an equivalent engine code so they're able to find the part, or even the correct part number? I've looked in the parts section but there's no mention of it

Any help would be muchly appreciated

If you unscrew the oil pressure sensor from the head, I think it might have a reading value stamped on it? CAn someone else confirm this as I can't remember. Also will have a VW part number on it, if you can get that then ETKA can be checked to see which sensor it is..

We've taken the switch off and there's no part number or pressure rating written on it unfortunately Maybe it's been changed for an aftermarket jobby meaning it's not got the VAG part number on it?

Where it states colour in the info above, what does this refer to? The plastic part of the unit is black, would that mean I need the 1.4bar version, or is that too logical?

@OP, I'm not sure, why not try the black unit and see? :p If they're not too expensive.. GSF should stock them.
