Hey, i've been seeing alot of people with MK3s putting in G40 engines etc.

What sort of cost would you be looking at for delcaring a G40 conversion? and a what sort of age would that cost etc.

I got a quote from brentacre a couple of months ago, for a 140bhp policy (covers every mod you do like for like aslong as you dont exceed the bhp) and it was £2100 fully comp, I'm 20, 0ncb and been driving 3 years. Best bet is just to ring them though

you'd ideally want to be over 21 to insure something like that without having your wallet raped.

But I've also heard that it is more expensive to insure a conversion rather than an original?? Is this true??

Something to do with it being fitted from factory and with a conversion that it isnt.....i know alot of cars are sharing the same platform so besides the engine and sometimes running gear nothings being altered or changed on the chasis but insurers still charge more??

That’s probably because they view it as, if you swap the engine, your looking for increased speed and acceleration, thus meaning you're probably going to be driving it a little more erratically than someone who just happens to have bought the car that the original engine came in.
