What's the next joke?

Featured Replies

Just over a week ago I was looking for insurance on a vw fox, £1842 fully comp mothers policy me as a named driver.

Best quote I've had on any car so went out and bought it and got 7 days free insurance from aviva.

Today I come to buy my insurance for the next year and they want £2760 for the exact same thing, I even clicked buy now in the email I got sent.

Anyone got any ideas how to get it cheaper?

18 years old been passed 2 weeks, 06 plate vw fox worth 4.5k need fully comp.

Tried getting a new quote? I found that sometimes you would save a quote and then come back to it and it would have gone up a considerable amount.

go on confused.com and get a quote from there mate

but to be fair

thats not to expensive my insurance is £2300 and i am 20 held my licence for 1 year 1ncb 1.3 6n third party fire and theft

its bull$£

Your getting ripped off there. I'm only paying £1400 having just passed fully comp. Granted its on a 895cc mk1. But even so I'm sure you could get cheaper.

if the quote is less than 14 days old they have to sell you the policy at that price i do believe...

You need to get yourself an older car thats not worth alot. Best thing I found was to be main driver, both parents on as named.

Some insurers allow you to untick a load of their extra options like windscreen repair and courtesy cars.

My polo's not worth what my insurance would go up per year if I made a claim so it's worth getting rid of all that stuff and being only 3rd party or 3rd party fire and theft. Voluntary excess can also drop it right down, so knowing I won't claim I have mine fairly high.

Only time I will ever have to deal with a claim on insurance is if I am the cause of the crash (don't plan to be any time soon) or if I get a car thats worth a chunk of money worth knowing about!

Spending £200 on my first car meant that it was cheaper overall than going on my parents insurance and worrying if I'll ever scratch it, claim and watch my premiums rise.

I'm rocking a 1ltr

no no claims and I'm 20 at £800 fully comp

was paying 1400 on my 1.3 mk2 last year as my 1st car my own policy and evrything and that was with aviva , i left them as the bumped my insrance up by a grand the following year on a smaller engined car

AVIVA = WANK

i was insured with norwich union i.e aviva for a year a good few years back, then wasnt happy with there renewal quotes so went else where

since then they quote me stupid prices, double or treble what i get from other insurance companies?? hardly going to get my custom back :?::lol:

Another thing you have to take into account is location and where the car is parked. For example if you live in a postcode associated with a lot of vandalism and car theft etc your premium will be much higher. Sometimes two different parts of the same town can have big differences in policy. Another big factor is if the car is parked on the street or in a driveway. If it's in a locked garage the premium drops.

Just a couple of things to take into consideration that may explain the difference in your quote and your mates

Try Aviva, I'm getting qoutes of £950 and a 1.3polo compared to £1250 on confused.com 19 /1YNC/1 claim
