I didnt think that you would get to litterally fight it out in court over minor traffic offences, i thought it would just be a case of writing an apealing statement and handing it to a majistrate. Then they cross it with the prosicutors statement and make a decision in the toilet or something

well the penalty i received was 6 points and a 120 pound fine! 3 for lows, 3 for poke. I fought like a muh'f*ka, the magistrates dont have a clue wtfs going on so you're only job is to make them aware that you know what you're talking about and the copper doesnt. and obviously prove you werent breaking the law

i got away with the 3 points for the lowness due to what i said earlier and other things (tuv certs, got the car mot'd 20 mins after i got stopped etc)

but my 5cm of poke front and rear got some tuts from the magistrates when piggy pulled up the pics copper said its a danger to pedestrians as they could get caught and dragged under...i couldnt really prove him wrong or ever right for that matter, tried my best but they had none of it

at least i walked away with 3 points and a 50 pound fine rather than 6 and 120

well when i went to court for lows and poke, during cross examination of the officer i asked "officer can you please explain to the magistrates how you actually tested the vehicles suspension roadside and state any equipment you used?"

his reply was "well, i performed a 'bounce test' which involved pushing down each corner of the car and testing the rate it bounces back"

i replied "where did you learn that the 'bounce test' was a reasonable way to test the safety of a vehicles suspension and deem it unroadworthy?"

his reply "i've been a traffic officer for 15 years and been to many courses regarding construction and use of vehicles on road"

then it was time for my cross examination...officers lawyer asked "so mr dhanjal, have you any past experience in mechanics?"

my reply "yes, 3 A levels at grade A in mechanics, maths mechanics and physics, all 3 involved the understanding of newtons laws of physics of moving objects, kinematics of moving objects, forces and energy transfer including within springs and dampers found in suspension components, and collision theorys. Give me 10 minutes and i can mathematically prove to you that it is IMPOSSIBLE for my car to 'flip over' upon impact with a pothole or uneven road surface at any speed below 70mph"

they pooped themselves and threw out the lows penalty after that...c0ck suckers

how can they do you for not telling the DVLA you sprayed your car? just tell them that you've sent off the log book and are waiting for the log book back with the details changed.

what bout your wing mirrors, surely theyd hit them too and hurt themselfs :/

Very true Jonnyboi..wing mirrors stick out more than 5cms and I'm sure if they hit a biker or a person ther is more a chance to make him/her fall off or get hit.

But their arguement is that the mirrors are fixed and not rotating, so if someone hits them, like any other fixed car body part, they will be pushed away from further injury. Where as if somethings moving/rotating, like sticky out wheels, then theres added/unnessesary (sp?) risk of extra injury by being trapped/caught up/dragged etc etc

A pedestrian is much more likely to be dragged underneath a BMW X5 with 22 inch wheels and a massive arch gap compared to a polo 6n with tiny arches, 13 inch wheels, decked 2cm off the ground. There physically is not enough space for a pedestrian to fit within my arch or under my car

you have to remember that logical thinking doesnt really apply to traffic police anymore... they seem to turn a blind eye to reducing road accidents and improving driver awareness, and concentrate more on making money off the honest people who drive sensibly and spend big money towards their cars maintenance. Just doesnt make sense to me at all.

gugs x5 is nothing compared to a hummer i saw..i swear the wheels were stickin out and this is in my own area. Must of been more than 22inch wheels. The 5-0 are working as hustlers.

i think there just trying to mkae there days cash flow work out better by pulling up dubbers because they know that theres something been changed or at most times illegal on our cars.

It sounds like your car is now tagged in their national computer thing, onto the list - pull car over and make up as much bullshit as you can think that is potentially wrong with the car, but do it in a confidence manor as if you know what youre talking about and that those bullshit things actually exsist

What was the reason they done you? Mine was coz I had suspension that was too stiff, today I went to get another MOT today and everything passed apart from emissions.
