Seat Toledo TDi SXE RAT LOOK LOW MILEAGE LONG MOT TAX

Featured Replies

Welcome to the advert for my lovely 1997 Seat Toledo TDi SXE GTi Rallye Cup Edition. For those of you that don't know your Seat badge specs, SXE means it has all the toys, and by all the toys, I mean all! Electric windows, mirrors, sunroof, air con, adjustable height steering and adjustable height seats (so you can get your gangster lean on like those kids with tinted windows).

It's done low mileage for a TDi, about 90k, and it won't be going up much further. It's got a nice long MOT till January next year and it's taxed until the end of August. I am led to believe the timing belt was done at roughly 75k.

I recently purchased the car as a work horse, but my main car requires money spending on it, hence a quick sale of this car required but could be tempted by a P/X. The plan was to "rat" it, hence the front of the motor vehicle being painted matt black. I can also include some NATO green paint which is available at extra cost if you want to finish the look.

The interior is in perfect condition and comfortably sits five people, being an SXE everything is adjustable and the seats are a bit more supportive. Everything electrical works, but the air con could do with re-gassing which is about £30 or so from a garage.

The bodywork is... not perfect. If you know anything about VAG cars of this age, you'll know they rust more than the Titanic. Luckily this isn't too bad an example, the bottom of the doors are a little scabby, but nothing that couldn't be sorted cheaply. I'd suggest rubbing it down and using the NATO green paint mentioned above. As mentioned above the front is painted matt black. It's nice and straight and filler free though, barring a dent on the bootlid. The pictures explain the look!

The engine is one of the pre-PD AHU code engines. This is great as a workhorse, as it means that if anything goes wrong (which is unlikely as these are damn tough units) that it won't cost the earth to fix. MPG is typical diesel, the fuel gauge barely moves. There is a problem with the MAF sensor though, we've tried cleaning it and re-fitting it which has helped but it could ideally do with replacing. It drives fine though, and completed a trip from Hull to Middlesbrough without problem.

Will Part-ex for something VAG/Jap/interesting and cheap to run of similar value, and must be taxed and tested as will need to use straight away.

Please message me if you have any questions.

Car is located near Redcar and can be viewed by appointment as I work long distance away from home.
