Hi everyone !

I will do my best to make my explanations as clear as possible ! :p

1 month ago, my mk5 gti (AVY code engine) stopped working because of the blown fuse (#3 : injectors).

Once it was replaced, i could do approx. 60 miles without any problem (I point out that i was not going slowly and that i was driving on mountain roads ...).

Two weeks later (the Polo didn't move meanwhile), I took the Polo for no more than 5 miles when a second fuse went to blow (I was hoping that the problem was simply a transient voltage surge ).

Hopefully, I had a replacement fuse ! I started the engine and another fuse blew soon after I was moving ...

Another test the same day gave the same result (I put a 15A instead of a 10A the second times and it instantly blew after i declutched)

Without certainty, I think this happens when the engine reaches 90° and/or when i do a heavy acceleration (Is there a link with the revs ?) but as I say, no problem during 60 miles ...

Did anyone have had the same problem or have an idea where could it come from ?

it is most likely that you have a dodgy fuel injector, inside a fuel injector is a tiny pintle valve that is operated by a tiny solenoid, sometimes the coil in the solenoid breaks down and makes a short circuit to ground..

you need to do a diagnostics check on the car before doing anything else, this should confirm if you have a short circuit somewhere. as far as i can remember it is only the fuel injectors on that fuse and there are no other components running from it..

also it's not good practice to use a bigger fuse, you need to fix the problem rather than using a bigger fuse

have you had a diagnostic check yet?

clearly a short going on somewhere in that system,but a check will pinpoint the problem via a fault code,and save alot of time and head scratching

The first time i had the problem, a diagnostic was done but no fault code appeared !

I don't understand why this fuse does not blow directly after starting the engine

My brother also has a GTi so we will try to switch the injectors to see if the problem disappears (I hope so).

And for the bigger fuse, I know it was not a good idea but that was the only solution to barely do 0.2 miles to go back to home ! I put back a 10A fuse now.

the other thing you could try is to use a multimeter on the fuel injectors to see how much resistance they have.. it should be around 15 ohms, if any of them show less than 10 ohms i would suspect them as being faulty

All the injectors gave a bit more than 14Ω BUT I saw, near the connector of the first injector (the left most one when we are in front of the car), that the scotch was cut and that the wires were visible ! So this is very probable (if not sure) that the problem comes from that : the thread was touching a part of the cylinder head, which led to a short circuit.

And this is probably due to a bad reassembly by the VW mechanics during a previous panne (several years ago)
