Sick 16v'r on BBS RM's

Featured Replies

I can confirm that that was my first ever car.

I bought it brand new in August 1999 and was registered with the reg plate T938LBF which was then changed to a private plate (A 8OLO).

The car was bought from Leek VW and i still have the original reciept for it.

Was Satin Silver when i had it.

Owned it till November 2006 and was sold to a chap called Scriv.

During those years of ownership i did a little over 100k miles in it. I melted a piston in it at about 85k miles and was rebuilt with oversized pistons and the capacity was increased to 1408cc.

Did lots and lots of mods to the car when i had it, was my baby in those days. Was a completely straight genuine car when i had it, only thing it had was a new passenger wing which was replaced with a genuine one at VW due to someone denting it badly.

Here are some pics of what it was like when i had it.

thanks mate for the information i could tell it was a well looked after car i have the paper work from all the work you had done on it, and also the receipt for them ronal turbo wheels ha. but i would like to know tbh what the chip is init, and the re-map. Also you know the print out for 122 bhp what was on the car do you know ? and if there is any other engine work , or where i could find out this information because. id just like to know alot about the engine work because I'm going to put alot of time and effort into this car thanks alot Robin.

The engine is completely standard apart from the slightly bigger pistons and the ECU chip which was fitted and supplied by Alan aka Poloace (http://www.clubpolo.co.uk/forum/index.php?showforum=17). The chip didn't make any power increase, however it did smooth out the torque curve a bit.

The 122bhp was made at the rolling road day at Aldon in birmingham at the clubpolo rolling road day however other 16v's also made around 115-120bhp at the flywheel too so its not uncommon for the 16v's to produce high flywheel power. What you need to do is go with the power at the wheels rather than the flywheel as there is a lot of factors which influence the calculated flywheel power like tyre pressures etc.

I reckon the engine ws making about 115bhp at the flywheel like most 16v's.

The bigger pistons gave a bit more torque but was marginal. The chip didn't give any more power to be honest.

From what i know there has been no other engine work done on the car.

Dipesh?

Dipesh?

Yeah that's my older bro! I showed him these pictures, he still remembers who owns all them cars in the pictures! I remember seeing these in flesh myself! Oh the good ol days!

It was nice, but was in such a poor state at UD when i saw it, just neglected, and tatty. I hope you restore this back to its former glory like in that picture! Matt

p.s. blatantly strap an eaton charger to it..

the car was in not looked after atall wheels were stinking (corroded) no shine to the dish and centers paint coming away I'm re-ferbing the alloys as we speak buying all new dish's , centeres re-sprayed selling the 2 buckets out of it and getting full leather with a cage hopefully and sub in spare wheel in back, looking alot better allready ill upload some photos of it obv the guy who had it off scriv didnt know how to look after a car he basicly didnt clean it or nothing but its in good hands now!

I wouldn't bother getting new dishes, just had my RS dishes polished after running them well into winter last year and all but fucking them - pitted to shit and a 2" kerb  £30 each, now they look like new (better than new £80 ebay specials)

oh right i was told its been re-mapped no idea on this ? ,thanks alot for your time robin respect it, I'm going to get 4-2-1 , full through and new dish's or if i can get refurbed but not sure if they would be able to do it cos front left and right been curbed bad , leather and few more bits if anyone knows any for sale contact me please

a remap is the same as changing the chip! The chip holds the engine running parameters etc.

Hi my names Jordan

bought this car last sunday coming from a 1.2 corsa my mate bought it now, i always liked VW's and fell in love with this car when i seen it going to get front bumper re-sprayed new dish's all around, center caps and middle sprayed rich cream! 4 brand new tyers proxyrs or any other tidy ones my mate Joe looked in to it going to get it runing 170 bhp, 4.2.1 manifold full through airfilter induction kit and cammed, remapped , bike carbs alot more ;) we think we can do it in a 1.4! with showcage and sub in spare wheel section center of wheels photos be up later

i wish i took a photo of the car when i bought it, it was stinking the wheels were filth like they aint been cleaned in months and the car wasnt washed perfect! and then when I'm qualified i want to put a 20v 1.8t or a 3.2T audi TT lump! its running 122bhp atm and pulls constant!

brand new engine rebuilt 4k ago runs perfect

if your planning on getting your car fast puttin it on carbs is a good idea but you can't map it aswell, to run carbs you have to get rid of ECU and your throttle body witch means no induction kit either.

engine conversion would be best idea as it would increase power alot more with the right engine.

Thats what you need for the conversion mate, but your going to need a fabricator to make you some engine mounting points i think as it isn't just a straight drop in job.

Sad to see that this car is going to get passed on again...am guessing you have really highlighted some serious problems and decided it just aint worth spending money on =(

well i would of keep the car if i could of matched the paint but i cant find out how much gold flake has been put in to it to have a respray, I'm going to wait till I'm qualified now and get some money and start from scratch and tbh i would like to do a astra van up and put some splits on it , i do love the car there isnt any problem except for the idle i might even keep it, I'm going to see what happens , do you think i would be better off refurbing the alloys and buying new dish's myself ? many thanks jordan

don't bump your topic for no reason, if the car's for sale, advertise it in the correct section please.
