I dont know why you're worrying about this tbh, who cares other than you? I'm currently building up a mk3 gt, and when its done ill be going from a passat estate 1.8t that's about 220bhp, which upsets a lot of things, especially considering its lowered and with massively wide wheels with good tyres, to that, and guess which one i prefer driving? there are speed cameras everywhere these days and most of us only drive around town anyway, never really above 30mph, so whats the point? make it low and pretty and don't worry about it. Summer is coming up, and summer is an ideal time for chilling with mates outdoors (when this shitty weather allows!) not racing around in our non-air conditioned cars against chavs in french hatches with ripspeed stickers all over their car.

If you read what i wrote i said i dont care what they think, i said its the fact alot of drivers think they are great as they can beat a 1.0

If they think they are amazing because they can beat a 1.0 in their 1.4 on a straight piece of road then they are just sad and stupid and in reality probably can't drive for shit.

Proper racing involves twists and turns where driver skill comes into play.

So the trick with your 1.0 would be to make it handle well, so yes they can take you on a straight but you will catch them in the corners and probably carry more speed out of them. You more than likely won't overtake them again but at least you will be able to keep up.

Then you can be the one to say "Ha look at you in your 'big' 1.4 can't even get away from a 1.0"

Right this might seem pointless but its really getting to me now, all my mates who drive bar 1 have quick french cars and they constantly take the piss as my polo is only a 1.0 and my mates a 1.4. I know for a first driver you wanna think your fast as fuck and race all the time but thers no way of getting around the fact that most polos are slow, unless you get a valver or gt etc.

Does anyone else have this problem with people not understanding the VW style or the fact they arent drag racers?!

already been down to the aycliffe "cruise" carpark when i first got the car, was on a chav hunt.

The trick is to maintain the element of surprise, so you rev it up with them, but only hit 2500rpm, avoiding dump valve territory. Just before the lights change, rev it properly, followed by dump valve blow off and turbo chatter which hints at them the fact that perhaps the 1.0 badge was a trap, to lure in idiots with idiot lights and neons. The best laugh of all is when they nail it off the lights and you don't bother, making them think they've won, untill they come up to you in the car park and ask what it's running because they "pure smoked you" this is where you tell them that V power is 1.29 a litre, therefore not worth wasting on 1.1 saxo's, as you open the bonnet and his face drops...
