the 205 GTI is a lot of fun, may not be well made but i there hasn't been a polo made that could match it standard for standard in driving terms, which imo is what matters.

besides any mk4 polo owners slagging off another car for poor build quality are fucking jokers tbh

but i have gone from a 1.3 mk3 to a 1.4 mk4 8v and was the best decision of my life

nothing to do with speed or looks

but due to pure comfort :)

plus in my opinion its pretty quick :)

but yeh if i get these chavvy dicks trying to race, i just dont bother, whats the point in wasting that much petrol for nothing really?

id much rather spend my money on mcdonalds sweet chilli chicken delis

i always put my foot down off the lights, not ragging the tits off the thing or to race peple but just to get up to speed a bit quicker then most people would... its just the way i drive and alot of people get mixed up and think i want to race, its quite annoying and i blame the loudness of my exaust.

and if i do 'race' anyone its usually people in a car way better and faster then my own but i love seeing and hearing them tear off its fun and pleases me more then beating a jumped up fucker in equally shit car as mine.

even though i own a 1.6 chipped with air filter and tuned pipe it still feels quite slow tbh

I know where your coming from, i owned quite nippy previous cars but - i did love my last car, but it was french.

As far as i see, you've got a better built car than them, saving money in the process & in time, theres will be run into the ground, yours will still be alive & kickin. Speed is great, but in this current climate, are u bothered? I'm not anymore lol.

Although i would like a GTI, its just not practical just now :)

when i used to have my GT and my mate worked for renault he brought one of these back one night

1.2 turbo 100bhp or something like that. after a night of taking abuse about how it would smoke my GT, i had to show him lol when he tried to overtake me down a bypass only to realise my little 1.3 8v wasnt up for letting him past and he ended up having to pull back in behind me before the end of the duallie coz he couldnt power past the look on his face, he couldnt understand it

and last night i pulled off the lights gave it a little bit in second up to about 4,000 rpm then changed into third as the road narrows to one lane, and as i done this i see some car in my rear view dive into my lane just squeezing past the car in front of him then tailgated me then over take me like a cock ficking sones and all sorts of shit from the centre of the road, then calmed down a bit once he got ahead and 'beat' me.

the mods i was aware of on my GT was a chip, full jetex exhaust and drilled airbox, although a previous owner pm'd me on here told me it had been rr'd at 96bhp about 4 years before i bought it

it was so satisfying making him stfu haha

I think it all comes down to driving experience. I'm 23, been driving 5 year. Now i would never say i'm the best driver but experience does speak for itself. Accidents happen, i wrote off my first car, 6 months after i passed. We all love to drive a bit quick every now & then, but there is a difference of driving quick safely & driving quick not caring.

I would never judge anyone on there experience or capabilitys, because some people learn very quickly, some take time.

When me & my partner got the polo, after a week, i told her to drive it a bit quicker than normal, through safe, long corners to get to grips with it. If you know the cars limits, it puts confidence in you, when things do go wrong, you know how to correct it. Also, i thought i was a ok driver until i paid to do a drivers training course with help from a friend. The amount of things i done wrong just driving shined on me.

To me know, driving a descent car, like all people on here that own a VW, gives me confidence in driving again, french cars are great fun, but if you crash, that could be the last time you crash. I'm starting to sound like the 'Think' advert, but hopefully u get my drift :)

Some people,i dont mind letting them see it shift. I choose these carefully,because its quite a noticeable event when I'm pushing it to its capabilities.

A comical one to some,I'm sure,but I'm not a clown and i dont just wanna shout "try harder next time" to some fool who'll go and do it in half a mind.

I said it should have an advantage, i didnt say 'wow look at me i can corner better than everyone', i'm not saying i wanna race people when i pass cause i dont, this thread is about people who are clearly faster, bragging that their cars must be the best.

i dunno, i find it funny. its not as if anyone takes it seriously, my mate had a go against a porsche in his 1.0 6n the other day. just a bit of horsing about most the time. fair enough if its putting people in danger though.

There was 3 in his car, and 2 in mine.

There were points when he did me and i did him, but when we came level on a straight bit, at a ton :s i literally just edged past him inch by inch, so mine still had a bit at about 6-7000 revs in 5th!
