It's been a while since I've had a stereo in My '86 Mk2 and I could do with a bit of tuneage now. All I've got are a bunch of wires that were cut many years ago and I need a little help in identifying some. So far, I have:

Brown - earth

Red - permanent live

Grey/blue - lighting

Green/black - rear, left speaker

Green - rear, left speaker

Purple/black - rear, left speaker

Purple - rear, left speaker

I am left with the following:

White

White/black

Grey

Grey/black

I know 2 of these are for the single front speaker which was evicted along with it's wiring years ago, but I'm not sure which. None of these appears to be for the switched live. I would imagine one would be for the aerial, but I can't find the end of the wire from the aerial yet to check it.

So, does anyone know what these last 4 do, and am I missing any others? Is there a switched live from the ignition, or shall I just split the permanent live into two wires to go into the permanent and switched live connectors on the stereo? If so, what colour is it? I've looked at the wiring diagram for the mk2 in the Haynes, but it's rubbish and the mk3 one doesn't appear to be relevant.

Don't worry! I decided to connect it up with what wires I had and it all appears to work fine. I split the permanent live to connect to the permanent live on the stereo and switched live which works a treat. Happy days!
