the 6n valver is 0-60 in 10secs with 100bhp so a 1.4 with 60bhp and less torque doing it in 10-11 I dont think so!

thats just what the 8v owners tell people to make themselves feel better about owning an 8v. I've yet to see any proof of these wild claims?

It's just the same theory as the mk2 golf 8v/16v torque debate. At the end of the day the people who own 8v's always wish they had another 8 of them

Thing is, it's where the peak torque lives that counts - 16v motors usually have peak torque further up the rev range, so an 8v *should* be quicker away from the lights, all things being equal.

The torque figures for the 1.4 are interesting - 86lb-ft of torque isn't a lot, my bike , a ZX-9R, has 74lb-ft (at 9200rpm), and 500cc less :)

I think young drivers need to stop trying to drive fast or own fast cars.

If you want something with a low insurance group that you can make fast then go and get a turbo diesel, these are easilly tuneable for at least 30% more power if not 50-60% more.

Can't the 1.4 8v owners face the fact they have a slow shopping trolley car built to carry grannies bread and spam from Asda back home.

Mine was rapid, plus I had smaller wheels on which knocked a second or 2 off the 0-60..

Tbh my mk1 895 isn't too slow. Not as slow as I expected anyway :p

tbh there is no way a 8v would come close to beating my 16v off the line, in a straight line, round corners, 8v feel like they have 0 torque and 16v feel like they have 1torque lol.

insurance was cheaper on a 16v for my on my first year :-) no idea how.

i think they handle pretty well, can easyly go round corners at 50-60 and keeps up with most cars.

Your comparing two completely different cars mate.

A 16v corsa whether it be the 1.2 or 1.4 are both more modern and more powerful than the 1.4 8v 6n Polo.

And if your are talking about the 1.4 16v Corsa then they are on par performance wise with a 1.4 16v Polo 6n.
