I bought another one!

Featured Replies

Been a while since I bought one but on Tuesday last week I treated myself to a Valver openair that was going locally.

So far its been pretty good to me, feels quicker than my other valver, seems sound mechanically and its an openair which is just ace since its getting into the better weather now :)

It does need a cleanup bodywork wise but what 6n doesn't these days?

Anyway pictures tell a thousand words so here they are.

As you can see its pretty standard just now, came with some crap looking wheels so I put my 15" Le Castellets on it and I've tidied up the interior. Looks like its on 40mil springs but standard shocks so I'll be throwing it a set of coilovers this weekend or next.

Got a powerflow catback system on it too hence the massive tailpipe, but that will also be removed soon to make way for my own system.

Updates will follow soon :)

ah very nice sir steven, open air and 16v in the one sentance is always a good thing.

nice colour too looks a more petrol blue colour, i haven't seen many that colour.

if it ends up looking anything like your old black will be amazing.

Thanks Richard :)

The plan is to style it like the black valver was...only on 15" Castellets not the 14" ones, so should be good.

Meet is next sunday eh? I'll try have it rubbing the tarmac by then.

i echo Richard :D

great colour too... looks like fjord blue to me LR5V

well spec'd too...hella dealer fit spoiler and fogs, does it have a/c??

roof in good nick steven?

Hella spoiler eh, thought it fitted too well to be an aftermarket thing.

Only thing on the fogs is...they don't work, might just be a fuse or the bulbs, haven't looked into it yet, but for the moment they simply dont work.

It doesn't have aircon which is a shame as I believe its a very rare find to find an openair with a/c?

The roof is in perfect nick, drove it home in heavy rain and not a single leak, motor that powers it seems powerful enough and it folds back perfectly :)

just be wary hammering it all the way back as you will see when its fully back how its creases tightly on the final fold at the rear, and that's where they crack first! :D

a/c is simply overkill though....i have never used mine, I'm a windows down man if its warm

Handy tip with the roof there dude :) I'll remember that next time I open it :)

Spitting image of mine dude

Looks really clean, and if it turns out like your black one its a win-win situation

It just kept on failing the emissions test for the MOT.

Recently found and sorted a blow from the manifold so should have a better chance now.

Had this for just over two weeks now and done a fair few little thinks to it.

All I had done defore was put the 15" Le castellets on it.

The interior was a bit chavvy when I got it so now its all back to standard except it is running a G40 steering wheel instead of a standard 6n airbag unit.

Its now lowered on coilovers just short of 100mm down on the front and about 80mm on the back, really happy with its stance its by far the best I've had a 6n sitting.

Also removed the mudguards and the rear wiper too.

Anyway a picture says a thousand words so here is the end result:

Looks good I think but still missing something so today I took off the front bumper and fitted this:

Its back on the car now and looking good...unfortunatly it started raining not long after so no pictures of it on the car yet.

What splitter is that?

Car's looking really smart, nice to see something more OEM looking, cracking colour as well!

Its the Mk5 GTI splitter.

Yeah its ment to be fjord blue but it seems to have a purple kinda thing going on, dunno if this is normal or not.

really liking this one. not a real fan of 6n's but I'm growing to like them.

Ah cool, I thought it looked alot bigger than a 6N2 GTi splitter!

A 6n is the newest Polo I would ever buy I think.

I do however prefer the Mk3 but a good one is so hard to come by up here due to them being more than 5 hours old (90% of Aberdeenshire resisdents class anything before an 06 plate as "an old banger") and I refuse to travel very far now for anything less than a G40.

But I do like the 6n's. Standard they have nothing going for them but it just makes it feel so much better when you get one looking good. Also underneath they have a very similar suspension and chassis setup to a Mk2 Golf so they do handle.
