Hey guys, got this quote the other day for the following work to be done:

- Both rear arches rust repaired and resprayed

- Rust on sill repaired ad resprayed

- Tailgate smoothed and resprayed

- Rear bumper resprayed

- Front bumper smoothed out and resprayed

- Machine polished and buff'd etc

This will come the grand total of...

£1350 (inclusive of vat)

Seems a tad expensive, what do you think?

sounds about right tbh.

just for an example...where i work it was £210 to repair and paint a back bumper on an Audi A3.

so that quote above seems about right for all that work once you consider materials and labour.

Yeah sounds right mate, but make sure you know what method they will be using to smooth the bumper and tails. Weld the rear boot and something like fiberglass or plastic welding on the front bumper. Not just straight filler.

ye as said above...if they dont get rid of it, it will keep coming back.

i've been in trade almost 10 years and seen that before, aswell as cardboard and even sandpaper with the rough side sticking outwards for the filler to have something to stick to

maybe he wants a good job doing, if your not trained to do bodywork or have atleast done it for a while then don't bother trying

it amazes me sometimes what people will charge for lol.

thats why if i didnt do the work myself, id insist on going in and keeping an eye on the work been done and asking what theyve done/going to do.

no, because all the spraying on my cars been done by my gaffer.

Do the work myself? Gotta be joking! I can't even sand something properly.

I've got it booked, but opted out of getting the boot smoothed - wanted to keep it as close to 1k as possible.

Gonna look the nuts when its finished! Got my ageing borbets in for a refurb as well :)
