yes your lookin at points, you should ghave slowed down for the lorry regardless if it pulled out on you

you may get the choice to go on a course just got to wait it out

There is never a 'reason' for doing 35 in a 30. You might be lucky though and have only been doing 33 (taking into account speedo error) and maybe get away with it.

If you do get points though it should only be 3 points and a £60 fine, since it was only slightly over the limit and it sounds like its your first offence.

I got done doing 40 in a 30 and it was still 3 points and £60 fine. You'll probably get the choice of a speeding course for double the price but no points IIRC my dad got done doing 36 in a 30 and had the option of the course.

They will probably be told to let anyone doing under 50mph slide through and everyone over 50mph will be prosecuted.

i heard the choice of the course was for anything up to 6mph over and if you havnt been on the course before faster then that and its no choice but points and fine

think it differs from force to force aswell

just wait the 2 weeks if nothing turns up thank your lucky stars (they have to serve you with the notice within 14days of the offence)

i watched a program with a chap in one of these roadside camera vans. he was working on a 40MPH road, and he was explaining the top speed hes gonna set on the gun.

he said 40 + 4 (10%) then add another 5 on top. so 49mph and over in a 40 you will caught.

not sure if that applies all counties, but it did on this one!

did the police stop you after you drove past the van? i'm pretty sure they have to pull you over and give you a fixed penalty notice if you're caught by a mobile camera.

The 10% +2mph is in the ACPO guidelines, but it is just that - a guideline, so the rozzers don't have to take any notice if they don't want to.

You certainly don't need to be stopped if you're caught my a mobile van - you'll only usually get a tug if the old bill are using a detector at the roadside or if they have you on in-car VASCAR (on bikes, they don't even need your plate on the video - they take the speed from a forward-facing camera and then just write the reg no down)

You can even get done if the occifer forms the opinion you were speeding and estimates the speed....

Anyway... if you were showing 35 on the speedo, that's likely to be to be around 32-ish, and you should be fine.

I got a NIP through the post for 35 in a 30 on the bike (I'd just pulled away from some traffic lights and was only in first gear), and as I only had 3 points already I got offered a speed awareness course at the cost of £74 and 4 hours of my life.

depends on the operator tbh, I've had a police officer pull me over for doing 50 in a 30 and tell me that hed let me off but i need to slow down, he could tolerate 40 in a 30 but i was taking the piss lol

tbh thats happened twice too me and I've got away with it, but then i got caught doing it another time by an officer with a camera and i got 3 points and a £75 fine

so all in all you can but wait but if they didnt pull you over i think you normally receive it within 14 days or something like that, so youll just have to have brown moments everytime you get post lol

i got had by a camera once, got the letter through saying they would prosecute if i didnt pay up, i ignored it, 8 months later and still no word.

if they say anything, it was sent by 2nd class royal mail, i didnt sign for it, and wasn't "served" with it. .... i must have never recieved it....

Pretty sure they have upto 28 days to get somthing sent to you, either way if you havn't recived anything in 2 weeks time id say you were clear

They have 2 weeks plus delivery of 2-3 days i belive, My mate thought he got done doing 50 in a 40 and he didnt get anything.

i would say your get a warning. i got a warning throught the post for doing 36 in a 30 but i may have only been let off because it was a 2 lane road and safe to do 40.

My bro got done for 34 in a 30, £60 and 3 points. I think that's an excessive penalty, but what can you do, he broke the law!
