Hi, really want to keep my dash looking OEM, but thinking about running a sub. Apparently it's possible to run one through the 6n2 HU, but it will sound terrible? I really like the double DIN HU's in mk5 golfs, and newer vw's, and was just wondering a. if its possible/easy to fit them to a 6n2, and b. if they have RCA outputs!

Thank you for any advice.. I know nothing when it comes to wiring/speakers, and i don't want perfect sound quality but do want the OEM look, cheers

My 6n2 Beta H/U didn't have RCA outputs :( so new H/U for me! :)

you can get these little adapters that connect to the speaker outputs of the head units so you can connect a sub to ANY headunit via RCA. these are cheap and available from halfrauds.

Do they make it sound REALLY bad though? Or are they ok? Cheers

only if the headunit already sounds bad because it's the same signal going to the sub. It wont sound bad for doing this INSTEAD of having in built RCAs. i did it with a mk4 golf headunit and it sounded fine.

Ok thanks, but presumably it means you can't have all of the speakers working too because you are using some of the speaker outputs for the sub? Or are there spare? Thanks

no you just tap them on so you still have all your speakers but tap into the rears so you can use the faders properly. i'm sure an audio geek will tell you a better way but this worked fine when i did it for a friend.

you need to buy the vw rca adapter from autoleads part number PC3-11

it looks like it but it doesn't appear to have the remote out

to remove the vw unit you need to use the correct vw keys like this

Remote is what tells your amp to turn on, or so I'm

If you don't have a 'remote out' signal from your headunit you can either use an ignition live - so that the amps come on when the ignition is turned on, or you can wire up a permanent live with a switch, so you manually switch the amps on and off.

The amplifier manuals will most likely cover the options - my alpine ones did

no the autoleads one gives you the remote turn on only when the stereo is turned on
