yeh got a gt engine that i need to rebuild with some twin 40's ,got some ally cats I'm refurbing at the mo too,

165/55 , also iv just bought a 1.6aee head with gt cam and bike carb manifold so I'm selling my 40's

Gt bottom end

why not a aee bottom end? it'll be miles faster

Because i have a gt bottom end so makes sense to use it

An AEE head on A GT bottom end won't give you a useable compression ratio. It'll be miles too low, 5:1 or something.

they have different types of combustion chambers. GT head is flat (combustion chamber in piston) AEE head isnt flat (combustion chamber part in head/part in piston). So a block designed with all the combustion chamber in the piston + a head designed with a combustion chamber in it = low compression.

That's why i asked - AEE head aint going on a GT bottom end with any success.

You can re-drill the flanges for a 1.3 head,put the cam in it and have a bike-carb'd GT engine, or get an AEE bottom end for a bike-carbed 1.6.

Personally,id go for the GT. It wont be quite as powerful and will have considerably less torque,but it'll be far more tractable,nicely progressive,sweeter revving and more economical. Also,the 1.6 needs long gearing,so if you dont have long ratios/fd then that'll be more expense obtaining said requirement.

well i do have the gt head but it needs completly rebuilding

quik update springs n shocks fitted to the front and coilovers on the rear tho i need to raise it on the back but its ok for now.

yeh shes going well tho seems to over heat n leak a bit of water but i always keep some water in the car if i need it
