Sounds like a massive air leak, get the car to someone who knows what they're doing and you'll never regret it.

Hi Ryan is there any new pics of the old girl. Great to see you still have her

Dont know how I haven't seen this thread before, the setup looks cool and I've never seen SU carbs on on e before either. I hope you sort out the carbs and get it running right, be good to hear a comparison to bike carbs

So the second aee is in and it's solid engine this time round .iv dropped the su carbs and now in the process of fitting a gt loom to make a 1.6 gt .iv brought a manifold that's been welded up to fit already so it should be a case of plug and play and hopefully get a reliable set up .

Not sure if this thread is still going, but I've been reading it all, and seemed to notice that it looks like the AEE just fits straight in with no mods, am i right or wrong, this would be a perfect conversion for me

Long time since update, replaced fuel lines with coper nickel pipe and after an attempt to fire her up i realised iv plumbed in the fuel pump the wrong way round so no fuel getting to the injectors.

Now all changed round the right way and iv got fuel spark and injectors are tested and working .

After another try firing her up she caughs n splutters so im close now just need to sort the timing out properly seems like none of the marks line up when put in to tdc position on the cambelt side of things and ignition seems like its 180 degrees out so not sure what to do now.

Update ,timing was all fine shes fires up n ticks over nicely once warm tho i have a problem with cylinder 1 or an airleak on the manifold on that cylinder so il be replacing the gasket and using sealant first .

So iv replaced the inlet mani gasket and also now using studs and nuts instead of bolts the attach the mani seems to do up tighter and had sealed better , now have no smokey exhaust and poping has stopped ticks over nicely now . Im waiting on a rubber grommit so throttle cable to be attached properly then hopefully i can sort out and mot n get her back on the road finally.
