Replacing driver side headlight

Featured Replies

Hi folks...

I have a 1996 polo.

I had a little bump in the car on Friday and smashed my driver side headlight.

Went to the scrappy on Saturday and picked up a replacement unit. It's the four pin version.

I know the headlamp can be removed by loosening the two screws on top but there is also a screw at the bottom, in the middle covered by part of the front grill.

I can't access this screw as it's covers and wondered if any of you know how to take the front grill off so I can get into the screw. Guy at the scrap yard told me i would need to take off both indicators in order to access the screws that keep the grill on. Any ideas guys/ girls?

Thanks for any help you may be able to give me.

I have a 1996 , I'm asuming 6n.

To get the grill off , with mine i opend the bonet and from the top down you will see like prongs , pull on the grill and stab them with a screwdriver or somthing and slowly pull the grill out. Mine was hanging off slightly anyway, just be carefull not to snap the plastic bits

Thanks for the quick reply.

Yeah... I can get the plastic bit off without too much hassle but am having slightly more bother getting the metal bit attached to the grill/ below off. I need to get this metal bit off as well before I can get into the screw under the light if you know what I mean.

ahhh sorry yes , I know what you mean. I had issues with this aswell. I managed to bend it right out but almost snapped.

I'm affraid i cant help you with that , I'm a new polo owner sorry.
