Another Update! :)

So i went upto Hull last week to pick up a car i was buying (MG-F got it cheap just to sell on to fund more parts for other VW's)

And while i was up there i got a roof rack off of a lad off here! Stainless steel top and powder coated bottom half.....

And i got a retro suit case to go on it in the summer!..

Then me and the mrs booked a holiday last sunday lastminute and went tuesday.. so on monday i Hit E-bay hard and came home yesterday too all these bits in the post!!!! :) :) :)

I got New stickers! AGAIN!

A box full of clips and bolts (bumper bolt covers and things i needed) from a lad off here for a 5iver!

Red fire exstingiser, hiding it under false floor. £3 on ebay!! :)

Wheel nut bolt covers with VW writen on them. Just to clean up the new rims! :)

And a set of small speakers to uprate the dashboard ones! :) ordered some and the company didnt have them in stock and so they sent better ones for free! There Cavler bullet proof ones!! :)

Thanks mate! got a fair bit done today! got the head unit in and the dash board speakers. Gonna go and collect the p-slots from the sand blasters tommorow! :)

PS.. Cant decide what to do re: the sub! i was gonna just cut a hole in the flase floor. but i like it too much now as it looks sweet all smooth! so now I'm thinking if hiding the sub under the floor as well as the amp, but I'm not to sure on what itll sond like from INSIDE there? thought?

I did this with my MK3, I've got a 6n now though so don't really need the false floor if you wanted to buy? fits a 12" sub into the wheel well

i reckon seen as you've already got the sub box just whack it in that, that way its not permanent, and can always be moved if you need the bootspace. however if you're committed to not using the box i have seen people with subs covered in perspex and it sounds fine, so i can't imagine some mdf would be too different?

how do the dash speakers sound? i'm looking at getting some new ones.

any news on the p-slots?

finally, what size are those wheels? cos i was thinking of going 70/60 on my coupe but looking at yours it doesn't look as low as i thought it would.

A sub in free air is just like some one waving a fan up and down,

the wheels on it in the pics are 15's mate, but they aint staying on! just got em on there while the p-slots are being done.

Picking them up from the sandblasters tommorow then painting them the same red as the roof and then the mirriors too! :) A risk but why not! This car was just meant to be a budget car for a bit of fun!

So i might put the sub in a sub box on the actual under the false floor and see what it feels lke!?

then, as you say, i always have to the option to move it etc... I'm gonna hide the amp and everything so it should look good and plain!

thinking of tinting the back three windows as welll..

the sub was sitting in the wheel well so that was acting as the box as sorts. Wasn't brilliant and I never actually drove that car and I've got a new one now so going to start from scratch

Quick update!..

Picked the Rims up yesterday, been sandblasted on the faces and on both the inside lips.. Plan to sand em down tommorow and got some alloy primer on order! Then red top coat and Yokos ASAP

Spent today fitting the New headunit, Sub and Amp. Gonna keep the Sub in its sub box and try and fit the sub box under the floor in the wheel well!

Been daydreaming today about getting a bigger lump for her, like a GT or something. If i find one cheap i may well do it, bt this lumps on done 50k so we'll see...

Hi chaps. Update again, wanted to clean up under the bonnet (as per my thread in POLO CHAT). here our my results...

Quick update....

Spent the day (after i got back from the scrap yard) Cleaning up under my bonnet, Main things I've done is,

Remove old pan filter and fit elbow (need to find some long bolts to finish this)

Remove large washer bottle and fit smaller one up in hole behind bulk head (need to finish wiring this)

Remove Manifold gaurd and paint manifold and engine front in heat proof black!

Remove alarm box and wiring and relocate behind bulkhead.

Fitted a mk4 rocker cover which I'm either gonna polish up or paint red and black!

AND THEN SOME SERIOUS DE-GREASING!!!

All the bits i needed to do this today i got at the scrappy for the grand total of £5!!! :)

£5 for rocker cover, Golf Elbow, Small washer bottle,

Now just need to finish bits off, get a cone filter and sort out the dodgy paint job where the wings come in. This is from where i did the satin black with the bonnet shut. Will get this sorted tho as i know it looks shit!

Bear in mind it is a days work and I'm not saying I'm finished!

PS. Someone said before about it not looking low. On 15's its like this...

Looks tidy, I'm quite a fan of this car now, also what do those inphase speakers sound like, i was considering a pair but I've read some mixed reviews on them

Update! AGAIN! some of you may have seen my thread in Polo chat about the fact i have spent the past few day working under the bonnet on my engine bay. The main "Before" picture is further up on this page.. but here are the results! :)

All I've done is:

Remove heat gaurd and pan filter.

Fit Golf Elbow with stainless bolts and a brand new cone filter, Which i spent 20mins making a alloy bracket for, you cant see it in the pics but its holding the cone from underneath!

Painted engine block and manifold black.

Mk4 rocker cover

PAinted all around the ede where the wings were oversprayed on the inside (check the before pic)

Changed the washer bottle for a smaller one, which i painted Red (Red and black theme still) and moved behind the bulk head.

painted that other little bit of trim red out of bordem might get rid of this!

Relocated a ton of wires! Including the alarm! Took ages!

Fitted some bonnet lifters.

and a ton of degreasing! ...

false floor is unreal wish mines was like that i put wood init but then got fed up coz i squeks and made to much noise :/

at the begging it looks well high for some reason :s

hey mate might be rattle canning my polo stain black what paint did u use ? how many cans and how much u pay for them ?

the finish looks gd for a rattle can jobby and the paint has a nice satin shine !

I used some stuff i got from my dads garage (he runs a garage and stocks Satin black) Used.. about 12 cans.. i think? cant remember! lol

They were £2 a can for me at cost. And yea, i did a good job i think. i used his spray booth and did a lot of prep so considering the paint itself was cheap I'm happy with the outcome!

So today i got up and made a bracket for my washer bottle ....

It looks a bit wonky there but i made it fit better/tighter once it was in place! Used a free bit of off cut alloy from my dads garage! :)

Then went back down the scrao yard! And look what i found!!!......

set of 4.. £80!! Bargain!!! Gonna refurb em up! probably not gonna put these on the mk3 but my try them for a bit. Think ill paint them white or silver! i need to find some adapters and centre caps now :)

I love mk3's and yours is awsome! love it.

I like the wheels on the coupe mate. Suit it really well and are different.
