Audio kill switches

hi guys,

looking to design some kill switches for my sound in my 6n. I'm after 3 switches and when they are flicked down it will cut the bass, mids or tweeters off. hence; 1 switch for the bass, 1 for the mids and 1 for the tweeters. In addition, when they are flicked down i want a LED round light above to indicate that it has been cut off. 3 LEDs in total, 1 above each switch........where do i start ??? :?

looked on google and youtube, didnt really get anywhere with it

any feedback and help will be great

er, what id do, get a 2 way switch. wire your positives to the centre prong, and the top. then when u switch it to the off position it will cut the signal. simple. id imagine for the LED it would be the same?

Is it possible to put a switch on the subwoofer signal cable? , I presume the amp would just think headunits off right?

i used to have a switch on the remote turn on for the amp so could turn the sub on and off.

suppose you could have as above for the bass, then a switch in the speaker cables to the doors and a switch in the cables to the tweeters. not sure how you could make a switch that turns off both sides tho.. must be a switch out there that could do it.

aah ofcourse, both sides....get a switch that has 6 prongs, but keeping the left and right seperate....must be possible?

also why do u want to turn off the bass mid treble?....i can understand why ud want to with a sub

What would be good is some sort of variable switch on the amp signal wire :) , then you can control how loud the sub thinks the head unit is.

Then i asume you can turn the amp up slightly but put the switch in the front down allowing you to easily adjust the ammount of bass coming out ?

read this this morning and been thinking about it today

what you'd need is to seperate the signal out into frequencies using a cross over.

then you'd need a double pole double throw switch.

wire audio signal to one side, and 12v+ to the other.

so it will be:

(connections)

1 audio out 2 blank

3 audio in 4 12v+ in

5 blank 6 12v+ out to LED

when the switch is down, it will kill audio for that frequency, and light the LED

(obv ground for audio, and ground for LED would bypass the switch)
