hi i just brought a new gear knob for my 99 polo 6n (http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/product/products_id/11001.html)

I'm trying to fit it, but do i need to buy a new gaitor? or can i fit it on with the existing one? if so i cant find a way to remove it from the old gear knob.

managed to undo the brass clip, but now I'm stuck!

any help please?

Did it not come with a gaitor? the original one just pulls of, this one should just push on. But you will a gaitor to be able to attach the leather cloth part, unless it has a rubber stretchy part at the bottom like the original.

no it was just the knob, just managed to do it, hardest job ever! the new knob didnt have a piece to lock the gaiter to it (so it wouldnt attach to the knob itself)so i had to fold it over and cable tie the inside to the shaft which was a brilliant idea. i cant find any good guides on how to change the gear knob without a new gaiter, so ill write up a guide on it soon. thanks for the help anyway!

i made my own gear knob, and managed to use the same gator, its held on with a clip under the actual 'knob'. if you cant attach it to the new knob then just lash it too the shaft. thats all i did and it came out fine.
