hello i am planning on getting a bigger engine from a later polo just wondering what you are opinions are on carb vs injection!! i work with a guy who says carbs are so much better! but another guy at work says i should convert it injection on a gt engine! cheers

horses for courses really, all dpeneds on how much you want to spend, how much you want to gain, what parts you currently have etc

oh right,what about for standard use,not racing or fast road! is it worth spending all the money to get the injection wired up etc? or can carbs be just as reliable? i worry i am going to have issues starting my car in colder months as i have a pierburg carb on my vw

in that case get a webber replacement off ebay mate, Hear nothing but good things about the kits regarding reliabily, sound , power and even looks lol.

i ran a weber over winter on my 1.3 HK engine and it was fine, the original pooberg would suffer from carb icing though.

I'm currently running bike carbs on a 1.4 16v afh in the mk2 and getting circa 40mpg, i doubt i would get than on injection, and it would have involved alot more wiring work!

edit: a fully set up and serviced pooberg are actuallyr eally good and delivered better economy that the weber, but you dont get the weber chirp woop

very hard to get that though init.

not really, just need a rebuild kit and some patience.

poobergs get a bad rep but most are 20 years old + and the rubber bases have perished or gone brittle.

a 20 year old unserviced weber would be just as shit

will come across as a potentially silly question but iff i get a weber how do i know what size i need to replace mine? i dont know the size of my jets etc cheers

I had a weber on my 1l and had quite a few probs with it cutting out. However I now have a pooberg on my 1.3 and haven't had a problem, not even in all that snow. However, it was serviced before I fitted it. So my experience seems to prove grunge's point

The only reason a pierburg will get icing is if the warm air feed isn't in place. ... Like a weber will. SPI engines still get it, and I find MPI Polo engines are happier for having a warm feed.
