okay i bought some JOM coilovers for my polo 6n2 i was fitting them the other day and realised that not enough of the threaded bar was coming up through the car and I've spoke to a very helpful person and hes told me that this part

is too long and that he was supplied with some shorter parts as well... i only had the C spanner and the 4 coilovers in my box and i was wondering what to do? i was also wondering if the smaller sleeve at the very top below the top bolt is needed? and if i could take the big ones out and just put the small ones there :p

I'm really confused about this so all help is very much welcome as i want these on my car ASAP

Are you talking about front or rears?

If theres not much of the threaded bar you might have forgotten to take one of the nuts off (At very top). Mine came with two. Make sure the bottom one is wound all the way down and tightend up with spanner. The top one which you take off is not really needed as you can use the one form your old suspension.

If theres still not enough poking through the rears then lower the car down to the floor with the bottom suspension bolt in, and with the wheel on or put a trolley jack under the wheel and pump it up guiding the threaded bar through. This should bring it right up so you can transfer the old washers and nuts over to your coilovers and tighten up.

As for the plastic sleeves, i didnt have to take any of them off. Mine fit perfect with no knocking so i guess its fine! :)

You probably no to use the old top mounts lol, and the rear suspension rubbers just pull off and push them on to your new ones.

Mine look just the same as yours and they didnt come with any shortened bits, just the c spanners you need to adjust and lock them in place.

okay well i did use a trolly jack under the strut and pumped it up it made a small improvement but still not enough :/ ill have another go some time.. :/ weathers to crap to do it now :(

nope..cant go any lower on the front, my arb is sat on my chassis, still have about 30mm of thread if i needed it..

and the backs are wound right down with the helpers still in and it sits perfect!

hiya mate i used the spacers off of the old suspension i think as they are shorter then there is enough thread in the strut tower to get the rest of the bush and top nut on

I know this may be a little to late, but it might help for others that buy coilovers,

When I fitted mine today, I had the same problem. I decided to experiment!!

When you take rear coilovers out box it'll have a nut, 1/4" thick washer and the aluminium plate (which holds the spring)

Remove nut, washer and plate. You'll see a similar type of washer around 3/4" - 1" in length, remove that and replace it with the 1/4" washer put plate on and then put it on the car the same way the standard shock was with big rubber bush to underside and smaller to top.

I done this and I've still plenty of room to put a rear strut brace if I feel the need to lol

My rears I used the spacers off my standards and a washer, is perfect.

Also, regards lowness, you'll find that when you go low it's sat on the bump stops, if you have clearance fit shorter ones, you get to a point where lowering the spring platform has little effect as its on the bumpstops
