Somehow doubt a gt is quicker than a vtr, a g40 yes.

obviously never been in a sorted GT with a decent driver then

probably gonna get flamed by some kids for this but my old GT used to rip the piss out of those 100bhp facelifted versions. from a standing start down a long straight dual carriageway my GT was ahead all the way and then at about 115 the VTR started to creep back up, but by that time it was time to start slowing down anyway so never got ahead of me. and that wasnt the only time

Just get any fast 80s/90s hatch, everyone will think it's old and try it on. I had someone in a 1.4 Corsa try it on against my Mk2 valver!

Thing is, if you do the same mods to a facelifted VTR, it'll stick with a G40. Standard vs standard not a hope in hell will a GT beat a VTR. More power, more torque, not much more weight, and the ability to put all the power down without spinning up. Mine was 112 bhp and that was enough to hold off a VTS to 120, as they only have 6 bhp more, less torque (actually true, unlike Golf 8v vs 16v) along with more weight and crap gearing.

my mk3 GT pissed all over Phase I VTR's,

and would outrun a phase 2 on a 1/4 mile.

and it was standard engine wise.

Dont under-estimate the GT's.

Biggest down size to GT's is add one passanger and it will feel like slow sh#t coming out of you are arse hole...

So slow it hurts.

The best sleeper I have seen in ages was on another VW forum.

A Shitty looking Mk4 Polo 3dr on a P reg with a PD150 engine, Stage 2 Jabbasport turbo, upgraded everything, brakes, suspension, rear disc conversion, big front mount hidden behind a std 16v bumper . Think it was making about 230bhp!

seen that also, I'm a huge fan of the sleeper, and the polo show just gone there was a G40T mk3 bready, look like a completely stock cl :) MINT

and for the moped lovers, i always wanted a 172cc Aerox, and just do anything at the lights :p.

My mate did the Malossi 172 conversion on his Gilera Runner lol, topped out at 90 but the front would lift at 30 if you whipped the throttle back.. much fun..

Yeahh mann, i can imagineee, love that kinda power

Yeahh mannn!! soo soo cool and what a joker :p

get a GT, laugh at the confused look on VTR kids faces, tell them you drive a 1.3 8v, laugh in their face, drive off

HAd that afew times. the confused look on their faces is priceless

i have a great way of dealing with tailgaters when i'm in the jetta, just stick it in 5th gear, foot to the floor and let it over fuel to fuck while under load. it's amazing how people suddenly stop being in such a rush when they can't see where they are going. it's even more satisfiying when it's some poser in an Audi TT convertible :unibrow:

I used to do that in a 1.8 diesel escort. Instant fog under my right foot!

this is what g40s are good for :)

i enjoy showing up tdi audis and beemers ect but the best to wind up are chavs in their VTRs

love to see gutted faces, sitting in their 20-30 grand cars, which have just been left behind by an old Polo

They pull away upto 120ish expecting to see you in the rearview but when they realise you're along side and edging away, even more funny. Had a 3.0 TDI audi on the way back from a RR day last year. The guy gave up at 130 as he wasnt catching up

think everyones forgetting the top gear episode on a while back with the german bitch doing porshes and m3's in a van! its not what you drive its how you drive

i have a mk7 gti with over 200bhp and slammed on coilovers and every chav want to race it. it's because you don't see many around are way and people don't know they have got 20vt engines in them. mine has only had the basic mods and it left my mates lardass r32 for dust. i'v got to say my mk2 16v sleeper is way more fun with it's gl styling and 185bhp it got a fully stripped out interior and perpex windows

Yeah but thats on track, This more about out of the lights.

I know it helps alot of you know what your doing but lets face it, if your in a faster car , youve got a much better chance of winning.

Max

its not how you stand by your car, it's how you race your car...you better learn that...
