Hey,

So after a year without a Polo I finally found one local to me. It's an R reg 1.4 CL Open air 6n. It came with full service history, tons of receipts, tax, MOT & a lot of rust!

Mechanicaly the car is perfect! But, it needs the following: Rear bumper valance, Drivers door, Central locking pump, Wheels!, two wing mirrors, Passenger door de-rusted and painted, rear drivers side by the door needs de-rusting and painting. Headrests, Cd player, Parcel shelf & probably stuff that i have forgotton!

Well today I went to the brakers yard and got 2 headrests & the rear valance (wrong colour) for £20. Then I found another breakers that sold me a door with the mirror and the regulator for £35 and a central locking pump for £20!

I have taken the bumper and valance off but I want to fix the little bit of rust before I put it all back on. The valance was in a very sorry state! Nearly all of the bottom of it had broken off! I put the pump on and it worked but the boot still wouldn't open. So I took the cover off the boot and found there was one little screw missing so thats fixed now! And the head rests look lovely! lol...

I will upload some pics but there on my iphone at the moment and I can't find my lead:(. My next job is fixing the rust. I've got to do the boot at the botton, a little bit on the quater panel. passengers door at the bottom, tiny bit on the sill and a bit by the boot... Then I can book it in to get painted! yay! Then it's wheels, lowering springs and exhaust time! Then I am not sure what I will be doing to it.....

So if anyone has the following can you please let me know: Passngers door mirror. Parcel shelf, the plastic bit that goes round the handbrake and I really want some 15" 5 spoke flat alloys.... They don't have to be in great condition as I want them to be white....

I may have a window regulator for sale soon as well.... x

Hey am near to Redhill. How about you?.. Yeah I got my valance & headrests from Bridges.. Then went to one near Reigate who is really good! And got the central locking pump & door with the window, regulator & the mirror x

Ah not far then I'm just in croydon, you should come to one of our Local meets in croydon last thurs of every month. I know redhill well, ex lives up there and so does the guy who does Jackson Tuning on here :) x

I have started on the rust today but if anyone has any doors or a boot in my colour and are selling them please let me know lol... I'll definatly come to the Croydon meet! Hopefully this month xx

Anyway car just needs some tender loving care hope you didnt pay to much for it, but its a lovely colour :( i want it lol

New pic of the rust on the rear quater.. Welll I say rust now it is no more! Its been fully treated, filled, rust primared, sanded, rust primared again lol.. Just needs a tiny dimple filling and sanding then first coat of primer! I put the new wing mirrors on too, sorted the bit out behind the valance and started sanding the bottom of the doors back.. there being rust treated overnight ready for another sanding day :) ...

Lower valance is now on, the door, rear quater, wheel arch and the bits by the brake lights are rust treated filled & primared yay! I have done most of it apart from the grinding on the door as I am scared of them... And a lil bit of sanding but 85% is my own work :-)... Going to put the top bit of the bumper on after dinner :-) xx

More pictures.. Getting the wheels on Friday :) Lowered on Friday or Monday. Iv'e put a smaller arial on it. I have ordered a de badged front grill, clear side repeaters, clear front indicators & some cool rear light :) Just waiting for those to be delivered then I can fit them :) The body work should all be finished and painted by Sunday. The passenger side door etc needs more rust work ... xx

Ohhh so it is the 9th... I've done a lot of it.. My bfs done the grinding as I'm scared of it... And he helped with the sanding but I done 85% myself.... I can't paint though! Only primer xxx

the only rust is on the passenger door now... The rest has been treated and repaired... I've given it a week and none has started to reappear yet.. The rear inner arches are fine which is good :-) xx

Yay! I got my new grill and fron tindicators on! looks much better already! wheels shop tomorrow :) soo excited!!!!!!!! They were in today but I had to work :( xx

Good on you for having a go yourself. The only thing I'd say is that stuff like this will always come back through cause the rust is still there. I speak from experience, I thought I'd be a bit handy years ago when I knew nothing about cars and did the same thing. Rust came back through after a year or so just cause I hadn't removed it properly. Now that I know a bit more about bodywork I know its just cause the rust hadn't been fully removed and it had just come back through.

It's been grinded more then in that picture.. It's been grinded, rust treated for 24 hours, rust primared, filled, primered and more primer... It's been like that for a week and there's no rust coming through... I took it to bare metal before treating it.. So there was no rust at all left :-) xx

i have two tailgates but not the colour your looking for one is green and the other white but your welcome to buy one the car looks like it maay need repainting so mayaswell do the tailgate too
