Wide wheels on a breadvan

Featured Replies

Has anyone managed to fit 7 or 8 inch wheels under there rear arches on their bread-van, (when it has been lowered)? If so how or what did you use to roll the arches cheers.

I have 6" wheels on mine, with around half inch to spare on the outside. But the inner arch has been totally folded. I got mine done at my local body shop. Also, they are standard vw offset too. If they were different, then they would either rub onn the spring or the inside of the arch.

6.5" et38 are about the widest you wl fit without major arch work. Although, i'm sure people have fitted wider.

this is mine with 7.5's on it, as you can tell it's had some arch work tho

mines down 40 at the rear with 13x7 et 14 wheels .

i rolled my arches with a bmx stunt peg and a stright peice of exhaust pipe

that sounds like one long ballache right there

As with McLovin...

That's with 6j wheels on. Had to hammer the lip up a fair bit. Can still only have one person in the back.

My car has a good 7mm cut off the inner lip without ruining the lines of the car 5.5J et38 tarantulas with 185/60's which are quite wide for that rim..

This car has I believe 7J et20 ats classics which the guy who has body work skills managed to move the whole arch out using hammer and dolly without effecting things visually also with a bit of tyre stretch, the limit IMO..

Just buy a coupe or a golf for wider wheels.

tbh VW ruined the lines of the car when they turned it in to an 'estate' and put those god awful rear arches on it

I take your point but I reckon the designers had taken some design cues from early water cooled with a tucked rear wheel like on split screen camper.

Your car might well pull it off with the work you've done, fair play . Some people just haven't realised what's involved and it's been ill thought out with how to sort it.

hardly ever see a breadvan with nicley done arches ...dont see the point in having nice wheels then a homer simpson job on the arch

some folk fit front arches to the rear , so they're rounded like a coupe
