can you not protest & get them to speak to dubmesiter, having the postcode & bsa stamp they would be liable for selling something as legal then it not being?!

this happened to a mate of mine, thats why I don't spend £fuckknowshowmuch on dubmeister plates, just ebay special it and try blag it that I forgot to swap them.

When I got done for everything the other day, the copper tried to add the plates on the list but I said him I had the BS marks and place of production on there and said that the contrast between black/white was there and they reflected light as expected. The font was legal and correctly spaced. And the only law for placement was they had to be infront of the front wheels. He backed of after my rant :p

am i that mate danny? i got pulled and he tried to do me for them but i just told him there legal and showed him the company name post code and bsa number or whatever it is followed by two fingers thats all he could get me for, try get a recipt for the parts hes deemed illeagal and protest it!

googled the lights earlier, apparently they are illegal, although pathetic as the prick that stopped me, and also me an my mate have both got dub plates so we're going to the cop shop with the legal jargon, dont mind changing the lights, but the plates were a birthday present so I'm taking it all the way!! ill keep you all posted!

Good man!

Ha, it's a load of shit. I'm not risking putting them on mine... But it's fine on bigger cars. My dad runs a BMW 335 with full german plates, including D mark and the tax + mot circles in the centre. Not been pulled once!! But they take the piss because we're young and driving small cars...

What was illegal about the film then?

You are allowed lights of either White or Yellow and both headlights must be the same colour.

As for number plates there are discrepancies in the law and also that different parts of it cover different age groups:

Pre-January 1973

Vehicles first registered before January the first 1973 have the option of using the white on black or silver on black number plates. These are made either from pressed metal or plastic digits riveted on a metal plate. Occasionally an adhesive black vinyl background with white letters is more suitable.

January 1973 - September 2001

Number Plate characters can be either 89mm by 64mm or 79mm by 57mm gaps between characters must be 13mm for the taller characters and 11mm for the shorter. The gap between the two "parts" of the number plate must be 38mm ( 89mm tall characters) and 33mm for the shorter ones. No definitive font is given but styled characters ( for example italics) are forbidden.

Post September 2001

Characters must be 79mm high and 50mm wide with a stroke of 14mm.Inter-character gap is 11mm and the space between the two parts of the registration number is 33mm.The only font allowed is based on the "Charles Wright" font.

No i was on about a lad from college, they fined him £60!

Jobsworth bastards!!!

this happened to my brother on his golf, the pigs followed him for 6 miles before they tugged him and said his plates from dubmeister are not reflective enough, they wacked him with a £60 fine, then he appealed with all letters from dubmeister to prove they are road legal and now they have told him he has to go to court to prove they are leagal, what are these stupid cops on, what a waste of time and money when you have people muggin and breaking into cars and crap ....... makes me sick

stopped me in the pissing down rain made me get out,

what many people dont know is that if the police stop you then unless they are going to arrest you they have no power which allows them to make you leave your car or even turn it off, meening that if its pissing down with rain you can refuse to get out of the car and say for example you dont have a coat and dont want to get wet.

you have to be careful when doing this as they may then to be a total prick and try and do you for as much as they can just because you are being aukward but depends on the copper i guess.

as for the plates as long as you can prove to them that the plates have the correct details on them then they cant do anything but allow you to continue using them.

fair play to Moat for going on a cop killing spree...twats have no idea whats legal and whats not these days...they need to keep up with the trend.

fair play to Moat for going on a cop killing spree...twats have no idea whats legal and whats not these days...they need to keep up with the trend.

So they deserve to die because they aren't aware of every single fucking law going

Some people amaze me.....

Sorry DubbPrince but your last post just screams Dickhead!

Waste of money those "legal" dubmeister plates. Just a money making scam like I've told so many people on here.

End of the day, the Police will stop you for the simple fact that they're metal, so just get some 20 quid eBay specials.

I have ran metal U.K. font plates for well over a year now and have never had a problem with them. Yes I have been stopped, but not for the plates, just for other stuff such as driving too slow and going places I shouldn't :ninja:

No a waste of money Or a scam at all I'm affraid there better quality than the other eBay specials! Just because they say legal doesn't mean u aren't gonna get pulled over! Just gotta be prepared to point out the markings and other various facts which make them legal, fair enough there bit pricey compared to eBay specials but if you get anal cops they will try do you if there's no postcode on the plate etc!

They're legal, the copper is just being a dick.

Aye, if you know for a fact that it's legal challenge them. My mate/neighbour used to do that all the time (Had an almost straight piped Suzuki SJ)

He knew what was and wasnt legal. Cos of the age of the car I think he said it only had to have 1 silencer (which it did) Of course he became really unpopular with them and liekd to stop him over nothing but he was always in the right!

copper got me for my plates i knew i was in the wrong so didnt argue much, did quote the pre 2001 plate regs so he was slightly annoyed  so said that they were illegal as the were not of plastic construction.

so i swapped for my plastic pre nov-08 ones which he also deemed illegal as they didnt have any manufacturer or bs marks....being a traffic cop he didnt like being told that the rule only applied to plates made after November 08 and i produced a recipt for them from dated 07 to which he replied well the law has been in place for 2years you should have replaced them, stormed back to his car and shot off

Tricky one. The 1973-2001 regulations don't say anything about whether the plates need to be plastic or metal, just sufficiently reflective. My Cortina estate is still on the original pressed steel dealer plates from 1982, no bother from the police on that. I used to work in the trade and we could order in pressed steel plates to order, usually for commercials where the operator was fed up cracking the acrylic plates- this was in 2000.

Basically they'll pull you for whatever you think they can stick to you, regardless of whether it's actually illegal or not. Maybe Dubmeister could provide some sort of document demonstrating how their plates are within regulations, to keep in your glovebox? After plod is shown a few of those, maybe it'll sink in that it's not a crime to have Deutche-plates. :-D
