Just remember kids...failure to declare mods to your insurance company

can result in you losing you driving licence if you get caught.

I have no sympathy for anyone who has modifications on their car, fails to

inform their insurance company and gets caught by the cops and busted...

Serves them fooking right i say...

Can we have a "LIKE" button.

if its not drivable then ill take the bits off and say the pikys nicked them, they cant prove it!

and if you are trapped in it? or police are called immediately?

Scream till the attentions of nearby pikeys are attracted

what a thread

but as far as insurance goes.its not worth the risk tbh

bit of lowerage or a backbox here and there you could call their bluff if very fucking lucky.but i doubt the fuzz and insurance companies will believe the "its how i bought it" line, or the "i thought it was standard" jazz when theres a stomping turbo with pressure gauge to boot???

just not worth the risk, just my thoughts on it

no! ......screwdriver to the neck will solve your problems.

you could torch it to get rid of the evidence

i think the OP needs a big joint, might chill him out.

i ran undeclared for 2 years as i couldn't afford it

didn't crash got pulled twice tho.

now my insurance has come down i have declared every thing and it only cost me 50quid

more. i saved over £1200

I don't condone it but it worked for me.

i know that if i crashed i would've ass raped but at the time

i thought it was worth the risk.:lol:

Has anyone tried to get insured with Bike Carbs on their car? I rang a couple places and they just went silent and didnt have a clue what to say, so i dont know what to do, they're not on the car at the moment and the cars not on the road either but i cant insure what they cant understand

try brentacre, they will do you a horsepower limit policy iirc...

yep fully declared on a 1.4 16v on bike carbs, all modifications covered with a 120bhp agreed limit (they said they dont mind if its more as long as i dont add cams)

with brentacre, 1k. it was 500 quid standard with kwik fit so its not much considering the power input has increased by over 125 percent

I'm fully declared on my insurance. HIC Insurance.

ok cool thanks people!

only 19 though, will have to see if those places do under 21 insurance like

All you old bastards need to chill out and actually look at the pro's and con's for this guy....

At the age of 18 your looking at a £1500+ insurance on anything whether your cars an 800cc matiz or worth £200

If you can just about scrape the money together earning about £25 a week (while in full time education) for this massive sum of money your doing alot better than alot of the chavs driving around in corsas and saxos which are totally un-insured.

So you get this money together and your tyres are pretty near the legal limit so a set of wheels with tyres, maybe a 2nd,3rd, or 20th hand pair of golf tarrantula alloys would be cheaper than a new set of tyres, have legal tread and make your car look slightly better than the average granny mobile...

So you ring insurance up and they want £520 EXTRA on your insurance for the remaining 6 months youve got left for a set of £70 wheels? How can they justify that for a £70 set of wheels?

Your choice?

1: Find the 520quid(almost 6months wages) have the insurance companys laughing at you and have to scrimp and save even more so

2: Keep your dangerous slicks on, risk loosing license the second your pulled or even worse cause an accident due to low grip levels

3: Not declare your wheels

I know what id do every single time

So to all you oldies earning 30k a year, £520 isnt alot, but lets put this into context....6 months wages? YOU PAY +£15,000 INSURANCE FOR YOUR ALLOYS, see if youd declare then?

Stop giving some kid a hard time for trying to get by, go spend your time polishing your old bald heads or something

That is all. :)

Teenage angst ????

and you cant afford new tyres? do what i did when i was on the dole and go to scrap yard and buy a standard set of steels with half decent tyres on for £5 a corner!

what planet are you on, if you cant afford to run and maintain a car, don't drive. i've been on the wrong end of being hit by someone who had no insurance and it caused no end of grief for me.

your arguement doesnt hold water. yes you can buy some cheapo alloys of ebay or where-ever, you could also pay a tyre fitter a bit of cash to get the legal tyres swapped over.

and before you say it, no I'm not on 30k a year. i take home maybe 1300 a month, £850 of which goes straight out on mortgage payment, so I'm not exactly flush, yet i still manage to run a legal car.

I even managed to get by when i first started driving ten years ago when i was earning 7500 per year. car cost me 1300, insurance cost me 1600. I saved my pennies, as thats how much i wanted to drive.

It is not your god given right to own and drive a car. If you cant afford tyres or the extra insurance for your mods, its quite simple, you dont have them. I had a Metro that I worked very hard for when I was 17 and it didnt have a single mod for the whole two years I owned it and you know why? Because I couldnt afford it. I just waited until I could.

Grow up.

how do insurers come up with those prices?

500 quid for alloys ffs.

how do nice rims with wider tyres make you more likely to

end up wrapped around a tree?

insurers may as well just ask young people to not bother declaring mods.

i suppose it comes down the 'attitude' of the driver, if you have the wheels and the dustbin sized exhaust with a massive stereo you are more likely to be a 'boy racer' and therefore more likely to stack it into something..

when i was a nipper i always wanted the high performance cars etc, i had a bog standard vr6 golf when i was 18/19 and they wanted something like £3k to insure that, and that's even if you were lucky enough to find an insurance company that didn't just laugh at you and hang up.. ended up being a named driver with limited mileage with my grandad as the policy holder in the end... it's strange though, by the time you can afford to insure it you'll find that you don't even want it anymore..

anyway, i'm sounding like an old git now, and i'm sure we've all been guilty on not declaring mods to the insurance companies at some point in our lives... at the end of the day we all know it's wrong blah blah blah..

the insurance company aren't interested in YOU or if you kill yourself driving, it's the compensation/claims they have to pay out to other folks which costs them the most

from what i've seen about 90% of all the cars i seen crashed are completely standard

one lad i know has written off 7 cars in 2 years because he drives like a dick.

none were modified and he gets cheaper insurance than me! :x

ever heard of theft? they see alloys as making the car/wheels more desireable

ever heard of theft? they see alloys as making the car/wheels more desireable

if theft was a major factor wouldn't it add massively to the price

whatever your age?

well at the end of the day young people are going to modify there cars as they have

been doing it for many years.

its not a perfect world so insurers meed to make the premium fit the mod

or have loads of uninsured cars driving about as there is already.

and being young your more likely to crash anyway

so it's the worst time to be uninsured.

Insurance has nothing to do with making your car safer the insurance see it as your can not standard it it will cost them more to repair if their was an accident.

And with undeclared mods if your car doesn't get stolen or vandalised you can only claim for standard and all the hard work is for nothing.

The major part of insurance is paying for accident legal cover

if you have a crash and the two parties are injured and your found to have mods the insurance will not pay for an medical bills etc and you be left to foot the bill. if you kill someone and your found to have undeclared mods your insurance will not pay for the other person funeral and you have to foot the bill. and that Sh*t is expensive a coffin cost 2000 pound

save your pennies until you can afford it or go with out

ahh i do love club polo..

VIVA LA CLUB POLO AND THE EMOTIONAL USERS ON HERE! :D

the post that started it all

They wouldn't know it was modded,

I like the pikey idea let me know how it goes lol
