Some advice

Featured Replies

Alreet :)

I need to insure my car this tuesday (15th) and the cheapest quote i can get is £1950 from admiral and elephant. i have phoned them and asked them the pay monthly details and they have said with some bullshit charges the total amount payable will be £2750... This is a rip off so i need some help with finding a decent quote!

I am 19. Live in B27 postcode. Full licence for 1yr 9mnths. No NCB. No Claims. 1 conviction (TS10 Nov08)

The car is a 93 polo CL 1.3 Breadvan

Apart from the confused search that gave me the admiral price of £1950 i have not been given a quote of under £3500 for TPFT. I have entered my details into roughly 100 websites and nothing has gone lower than £3500...

Can someone give me some advice on any classic car schemes? young driver schemes? I'm not a boy racer schemes?

NOTE: i am yet to try brentacre as there offices are closed atm. (HIC wanted £4500).

2nd NOTE: INSURANCE IS LEGAL ROBBERY lol

Thanks,

Dan J

Rand brentacre today and they have said well over 3 grand! Nightmare!

i was actaully going to get a loan and say it was for something else, pay the insurance off in 1. i could borrow like 1500 and repay like 1600, which worked out like 300 cheaper..but couldnt get a loan in time, maybe something you could look at doing?

I've already been looking at a 0 percent interest credit card... Won't be quick enough tho! :(

depends man, sometimes you can get a loan like instant!

word of advise , you location will be knocking the price up , if you have a relative who lives in the country say you live their , no joke could be as much as 1 k cheeper , but this isnt legal , its a grey area , or go on a parants insurance :-D

theres a big crack down on being a named driver, theyll just seize your car

Very true, I'd be wary of named driver. When I rang tesco and tryed being a named driver, they specifically asked me if my household would have bought the car if I wasn't there.

I've always wondered if you rip out the back seats and only say the car seats 2 would be cheaper?

depends, cause would technically be a mod lol

i've got quotes with the back seats out it works out £20 a year cheaper but it depends on the insurer.

its not really worth it tbh

drive round with no insurance its only a 200 quid fine could get stoped every week and be cheepr then payin them theves in suets

get pulled for no insurance its 6 points=instant ban/retest (license under 2 years) and they will take your car so you will have to insure it and pay recovery costs

so it wont be cheaper than paying a thief in a suit

i get so tempted to slap anyone who says 'dont get insurance' lol.

& also, 200x52= £10400. defo cheaper than insurance like.. ha
