1 Brake light out, new bulb no fixy

Featured Replies

As title says, my passenger rear brake light is not working...it's a twin filament light and the rears work when I turn the lights on but not the brakes. Tried a new bulb but get the same result.

Polo 9n by the way. Any suggestions?

you got a multimeter mate?

you got a multimeter mate?

nope

So say I did have a mulitmeter.....what would I check with that?

Check your fuses mate

Check your fuses mate

There's separate fuses for left and right brake lights?

Just switched the light assemblies and it's working when I put it in the other side, and the driver side doesn't work in the passenger side. Any idea where I can buy a new light assembly?

Might be some weird electrical problems, now my rear lights turn to always on if I use the indicators without the key in. Getting confused now!

parking lights.

& you could use the multimeter to check for continuity, is there even power getting the the lhr brake light? if there isnt you can use it to investigate furthur, earths etc..

oh is that normal then for your parking lights and light warning buzzer to come on when you take the keys out with the indicators still on? If so, whoops! Every car I've had the indicators just don't work when the keys are out.

with keys out, if you put indicator on, it will put the front sidelight and rear tail light on on the side you have the indicator positioned too. usually beeps until you shut the door

OK, I may sound a little silly but here goes.... which section of the light is supposed to be the brake light? is it the big round red circle or the small red square next to the reverse light?

Everything seems to be working but side lights on illuminates the red circle and brakes illuminate the small red square at the top, I would have thought being a twin filament that tail lights and brake lights would both be in the red circle?
