i want to lower the car 120mm, but i have read some people get knocking from the anti-roll bar and some get knocking from the drive shafts or something, is there a way to fix this ?? and will i definately get this or is it just luck ??

also how do you get the topmounts of original shocks, i have spring compressors !!!

you dont state what car you have. so no one can answer your first question.

to remove top mounts from shocks you will need to remove the top cap which is normally a 22mm nut, then there will be a nut which looks like this

and is removed with this

which you can get from most motor factors, get the sealey one pictured as it will save you a hassle and a half. you can make them yourself out of an old socket but most of the time it just aint worth doing this for £4 as your homemade tool most likely will break on a tight nut...or fook the nut up.

Ok so driveshafts will probably need to be shortened and tbh 120mn is a huge drop every bump or pothole could potentially fuck your car.arch work would need to be done don't expect any comfort or speed and I can't say anymore as we don't know what car. At the end of the day its your car and if you drop it by 120mm I want to see pics :)

I don't think I have ever seen a car genuinely dropped by 120mm.

Alot of people with 6n's claim it but its very hard to get past 100mm.

my car is down over 120mm. I didn't need shortened shafts but I did notch the chassis leg on the N/S of my mk3 coupe.

your cars not the average "all the way down on coilies mk4" though kiz :p

my bus was down 160mm but i had a little more travel to start with :p

its a 51 plat 2 door 6n2 will have hottuning coilies and want to lower 120mm in 15s with 7.5_165_50_R15 tyres

offset on wheels? driveshafts will probably rub?

If your down 120mm knocking from the driveshafts and ARBs is the least of your worries.

I've also never seen a car on coils look good lowered 120mm either.

my car before this was a corsa b with a c20let al done up propa, i had specialist springs on the rear and koni adjustables all round, the rear was lowered 120mm and the front 100, i like the uncomfortable ride and like to feel the road, it used to bobble up and down like fast and furious lol...... when i hit a pot hole the welds on the crossmember broke and cracked the windscreen too, lol.....but i dont think hottuning coilies are that solid :) fingers crossed

not sure of the offset as dont have the wheels yet lol.

yes of ebay, my mate has em on his civic lowered to 120mm and they dont feel hard at all, lol.....infact, they are softer than his fk setup lol.

oh how do i get the driveshafts shortened, never hear of this before, appart from a civic h22a conversion !!!

get a hacksaw, cut the desired length out, then weld it back up.

i got a mk3 slammed it to 80mm front n back. n i still have problems with stupid speed humps and parking in bays with kerbs.

so I'm lifting it to 60mm front n back.

You don't need to shorten the driveshafts, literally don't understand why you would need to.

What you do need to do though is notch the chassis leg that the driveshaft and ARB will rub on.
