P-reg (97) VW Polo 6n 3 door. Car has covered approx 80k miles prior to conversion.

It was originally a 1.4 16v

Currently has 10 months MOT

The Conversion

The conversion has been carried out over the last few months and is now finished and on the road, its real maiden voyage was to Bristol Volksfest last weekend where we expected a few teething problems (as you must expect when doing an engine conversion). The only fault which came up on Vagcom was a Hall sensor fault, this will be replaced this week. Other than that the car runs exactly as it should and is smooth to drive. If driven sensibly it is a job to tell the car has had a conversion, but put your foot down and expect the power of a VR6 but in a light weight Polo

I'm expecting most people to assume it handles like poop, but i was amazingly suprised at how well it does handle, the VR engine up front has made very little difference to the handling, it feels very tight and precise dispite what the keyboard warrors may say about VR conversions in small cars. If the car is converted well and uses a good setup it WILL handle nicely.

The Engine

The AAA 2.8 12v Mk3 Golf engine is sat on a custom made front cross member, and custom engine / gearbox mounts. The lower arms have been seam welded to provide extra strength, and are polybushed throughout.

The Engine still use exactly the same setup it would in a standard VR6 by using the orignal Carbon filters, CAT, etc so runs like it should.

The car is sat on Coilovers (cant remember which make) and use Drilled 280mm G60 Disks and Calipers with green stuff pads.

The Timing chains, Tensioners and guides have all been replaced with brand new ones and the engine sounds so sweet.

Other new parts include Water pump, clutch, clutch master cylinder, headgasket and bolts, thermostat, inner CV joints, belt tensioner, radiator, 540amp battery, powdercoated Inlet maniolds and cam cover.

I'm sure there is loads missing on here so i will add them if and when i remember.

The car has to be seen to really appreciate the work involved in the conversion, and unfortunately the pics dont do it justice as my camera skills are shocking.

Car is located near Weston Super mare.

£3000 which is a ruddy bargain considering the work done to build this car.

Pretty much same question as above mate, general questions about legalites. Such as the V5 been changed? Anythign special for MOT if you know what i mean ?

Any other issues whatsoever?
