M.O.T fail

Featured Replies

like its been mentioned, the testers not a cock, just doing his job. its technically in the swept area, therefore restricting view. and they're not allowed to take anything off of cars like undertrays or anything, so this wouldnt be any different. had a car (i say a car, it was a chavved up nova) with a massive sun strip on going onto the swept area, just cut a big square out of it. looked gash, but no worse than when it came in

i work in a test centre though ennit. testers doing his job, but he sounds a bit up his own arse. majority of small shit that fails we tend to ring the customer, fix it and add it to the bill. no point running a test twice for petty shit. time=money.

if you saw the tester i think you would think he was a cock, he could have been nice about it and explained that he could have lost his job by doing it but instead he had a go at me for asking why he didn't remove it. if he did get caught he could have just said it fell off, cant prove it hahaha.

if you always use the same MOT test centre then the tester should be able to use their discretion for anything that will make the car fail its MOT but is just as daft as having an air freshener from the rear-view.

E.G. You have a "Magic Tree" air freshener on your rear view and take the car for it's MOT at the station you always use, they test the car and move the air freshener to the indicator stalk for you so that it passes first time. In an ideal world, this would be fine but with the government being so far up their own arses, you have to ask for permission and get it authorised by everyone and their grand-mother's before anything can be done :(

Pub Government FTW!! :)

i used to find it well off putting having stuff dangling from my mirror got a couple of small things on there now though will deffinatley take em off come mot time after hearing this

to be fair vosa are sending in "mystery shoppers" with cars with faults to try and find garages that give dodgy mots.

so he can lose his job and the garage can lose its ability to mot cars.

how does he know your not a vosa agent

my golf failed on a few bits and bobs. the 1 on the plates was like that so had the flick on the top. so it failed. i told him that i had discussed this with another MOT tester before and he said they were fine and there was no reason they should fail (didnt just say iut, all happened haha). anyway he said besically that they have had a few VOSA people in lately turning up randomly so while its sat outside their garage it needs proper plates.

wonder if the mot guy just has a secret hatred for magic tree air fresheners.

My car would have failed for having a worn tyre so the guy just fitted the spare for me (no charge for doing it) and passed it. The spare wasn't even the same width as the other tyres.

Yeah the guy is an utter tit to be honest, could have easily said put your air freshner somewhere else please!

and risk the chance that you could be an arsey cock and start complaining that he had messed around with your car in the process getting him a major bollocking for tampering with the car without the owners permission?

it may sound far fetched but i bet some customers are like that, it's probably a lot easier and safer for his job to just follow the rules. it shouldn't cost you any thing and he only has to retest what it failed on (in this case just looking to see that you moved it) and print out your new mot. it may seem like more hassle than it's worth, but for the shit it could of cause him if he had moved it for you and you did turn out to be an ass hole i guess it is worth it for him
