road hogs

ok, i know that sometimes rants can be a bit boring but this really pissed me off coz i shit a brick :x

driving down some country lanes today, with road markings near rowlands castle if anybody knows it

was a national speed limit, enjoying the corners but wasnt really pushing it because the roads were so tight it was an achievement to maintain the national speed limit

come round a corner to a straight, then low and behold, a brand new range rover emerges from round the next corner, and fully using the whole road while passing me on the straight

it was so tight and sudden that i had to drive with two wheels off the road, and bear in mind I'm doing at least 40mph here, was very very dangerous. for a split second i did think 'oh fuck'

i dont know where that asshole expected me to put my car, and i am well annoyed at the general arrogance of the driver. their actions could very nearly have caused an accident to which they no doubt would not have stopped for

anyway, rant over. anyone else got similar experiences?

Very similar experience, Think it was with a similar car as well.

I was driving towards him for a fair amount of time down a straight, He stayed pretty much right down the middle of the road until I put my wheels in the shrubbery!

Big car, Big pricks!

The road to my house is used quite frequently by lorries going to the quarry and the scrap yard. Theres a dyke one side nearly the entire length and a river bank the other and the roads quite bumpy in places (no lowered cars down here!)

The amount of times i've made people stop because they refuse to get over is beyond a joke and had 2 run ins with drivers who thought they owned the road.

I wont move end of. If they want to use the entire road, so be it. quick flash of the lights and a slight swerve usually gives the the right idea.

Opposite actually 8-)

get it all the time going to work I'm lucky i drive a shit 106 at the moment had a couple of literally millermeter gaps between wing mirrors because of it.. i ususaly try to push them out usually works when they see me laughing going towards them!

one thing I've found that works especially well drive in the center of the road yourself they quickly move out of the way its even better with the klaxon as well they shit themselves. the thing that really annoys me is the muppets who drive on there phones just wish i had a blue light for them moments (i know its illegal to ippersonate an official vehicle) but for comic value of them dropping the phone

thing is there wasnt enough time to do anything but get out of the way, i reacted before id even realised what was happening tbh

e36 vs range rover head on at combined speed of 80+, didnt fancy the odds on that bet

Sorry gotta say - it would be hitting him at 40mph :p mythbusters proved that a head on accident doesnt double the speed

Got to agree - stay the course - if I'm driving along , ill move over a bit, and if they dont - well they will have to explain why they hit me

Haha! i think i saw that episiode of the mighty mythbusters

i drive down tiny 1 lane roads to where i work every day

and

I've got to say that people in normal cars will do everything they can to help pass each other

but

if i come across a 4x4 they make no effort what so ever to pull over!! when they could drive through the field if they wanted too

why do people buy those stupid huge range rovers then get scared of getting a speck of dust on them??

your answer jody

its because people think the bigger the car the more important they look and if its dirty they will look common hence the always clean bit

if i was to have a 4x4 it would be a landy series 90 fully equiped for green laneing as there are plenty of places near me to go get muddy that or a t25 syncro what a vehicle

The worst kind of people are the ones that take thier cars past thier limit, like last summer I'd just started to have driving lessons, some teat in a saxo comes flying into my lane, leaving me to stick the instructors car in the bushes that are like 6foot from big bastard lakes!

I dont move if i can help it. I could do with the compo.

I've been in a couple of big big crashes since the early 90s and i know what it's like, but still they move or they get hurt. They generally chicken at the last minute.

I have moved when necessary (obviously you must try to avoid an accident by law even if they dont have right of way),only when i could, but i dont make it easy for them if I'm able to afford that.

But i dont forget that i too have made mistakes - i know of twice in my time I've relied on them to stop, when they had right of way. We all make mistakes.

last week driving to sudbury - got this landrover - 6months old driving close to the back of my boyfriends rover (I mean nearly touching the boot) Mick thinks about slowing down / stopping letting him past

I say no, carry on, if he hits you and writes off the car at least we wont have to suffer the hell of putting the rover through another MOT!

Some people round here drive exactly the same - each area has idiots like this!

i hate 4 x 4s , i have alot of freinds who live out in the country in a quite well off part of the country so get alot of range rover with their zennon headlites right up behind me , and me being lowerd the light bounses off all my mirrors strait into my eyes , thats my rant with big cars

i was in a row of cars the other day go to over take the one in front check everything put the indicator on all in good time, next thing there a range rover next to me as I'm starting to move out, it was 3 cars back when i checked my mirrors, so had to pull back in and watch as he nearly ploughs into oncoming traffic, tucking in at last min by bullying his way back in, no respect for anyone on the road where are the police when bad driving actually occurs?

He may have gone for a risky overtake, but I for one see far too many people dawdling about before committing properly, and this alone can cause accidents. Say there's a tractor, sitting at 30 or so, now my car isn't the fastest car in the world but within 3 or 4 seconds of putting my foot down in 2nd I'm doing 60, and if one of the cars in front decides at the last minute that yes, in fact, they do want to overtake, they rarely expect anyone to be overtaking them and don't check their mirrors.

We get a lot of these around the folks place. I generally find a 10 year old transit has a lot more road presence than a brand new shiney range rover.

Even more so if its uner LWB with padlocks and primer holding the thing together.

One of the roads I use to get home sometimes is a single track lane with ditches either side. Cars will slow and move over - all well and good. If I see a 4x4 coming towards me, I'll make them move 1st as they're more agile off road than I am. If they don't pull over, just come to a stop, turn the engine off, get out and walk off. Pisses them right off!

^^lol thats funny shit

whilst driving to work today an artic was pulled up on the other side my right of way people pushing out because they couldnt be arsed waiting a 4x4 tries pushing out in front of me so i stayed my course knowing his fault my compo he missed me but the bus behind me got him

^^ the only time bus drivers are any good are when they are taking people out who drive like idiots

Country lanes are the worst, I drive on them nearly every day and get forced in to the ditch/verge/bit of road that's crumbling at the edge

by drivers who either don't have a clue about the size of their car or ignorant twats in general. There are times when I've been soooo close to swinging the car round

and chasing after them. There's nothing like a blonde bint shouting profanities at stupid men!

You'll be surprised actually, a friend of mine got run off the road and into a tree by some idiot woman "more leather on her face than her gucci bag" driving a 4x4 and who was driving behind her and saw the whole thing.... Thats right the old bill!

On the ring road today some STUPID taxi driver started coming over more and more into my lane (i was on the right hand he was on the left) so i obviously thought beep a lot to show him my anger plus the fact I'm actually here and if he doesnt stop coming over he is gonna go right into me! But is it appreciated? (hell no!) The stupid idiot drives past me while I'm on a red light swearing at me and beeping his horn!!! THE CHEEK

Oh and a few days ago i parked up at the very first petrol pump and some old cheeky prat decided to reverse in and start using the pump before me! Bare in mind i had just parked up and opened my cap to start filling up! He got out got to the pump and started filling up didnt even say anything to me!
