Has anyone ever run 14" rims on a 9N polo? (2002 - 2005).

I want to give it a go and get some poke going on but everyone I know is saying, that 14"s are far too small for a 9N and I wont be able to get it low enough to avoid archgap.

So, I'm either after advice (from experience) or pictures of a 9N with some 14"s.

If you run 14's slammed then you will have to get it sitting on the floor and there will still be about a meter of arch gap.

16's or 17's!

I don't get it, the standard steels I'm running at the moment are 14" and it sits plenty low enough ?

on mega baloon tyres tho, youll want low profile tyres which will mean your car will sit a fair bit lower to the deck, then adjusting your coilies so they sit perfectly means your gnna have problems with the car grounding out over most things and losing most of its drivability.

fine if you want it like that, low and slow, but i prefer to be able to drive my car and not change/patch up my sump every time i catch it off something.

Yeah, You can run 14" steels (which I do through winter) But with alloys you buy them to improve looks and with 14's they look lost in the arches (and rubbish) so its pointless buying them.

That explanation makes sense in my head...

Edit - also (baloon tyres) - I'm on 17's with 205/40 tyres (fully wound down) and still have trouble with speed bumps.

so 14's with anything but baloons would be a nightmare
