Allabout shopping around, I got mine for 1,400£ due to Adrimal multicar :)

i got my first insurance on a 1.4 306 at 19 for £1300 3rd party, just recieved my renewal on the mk2 1ltr loon and its £911 with 1 years no claims, all through quinn direct :) my friends also have cheap insurance through them

worth a shot?

Just too add, Mines fully comp :)

I did look at quinn yet they quoted me 4k on a 1.0 6n on my parents insurance, i dont get that? my mate is insured on a 1.8 leon at 17 for 2.3k

bloody insurance is just silly these days, its as if they just think of a number and add a few zeros on the end...

I hate it tbh mate, i am trying to save money for it but at the end of the day its not easy getting thousands of pounds at 17

Insurance is stupid for young drivers, :(,

One day i get quoted £2000 then the next £3000 then the next £1500 all with the same company on the same car.

My renewal just came through the door, saying it will be £1,800. I couldn't beleive i've been driving nearly a year :|

I've saved not a penny up neither, oh dear.

All the advice i can offer is dont be tempted to go through your parents, i went on my dads for the past 3 years - switched to my own now, and its cheap enough. But its ruined the possibility of me owning a G40 before I'm 21 :(

*edit* Dont bother trying to lecture me about "fronting"

My first year of insurance cost 500 quid through LV. I was a named driver under my dads policy.

Been driving for 3.5 years now and it has gone upto around 700.

fuuuck that! 700 quid, 18 years old on my coupe. with bell.

Now i'm 20, 3 years no claims 3 years experience, 350 quid with them, my own policy etc.

whatever happens you're gonna get raped in your first year! :(

i really dont see why you guys bother with fronting policies, it wont save you any money in the long run. if you look hard enough you can find places that will quote you for not much more than being added as a named driver. Either way it wont be cheap, but getting you own ncb will make loads of difference.

When i first started driving my insurance cost me 1600 on a car i payed 1300 for. after a years driving and 1 year ncb my renewal halved.

I must admit though, that being a named driver seems to have gone up for young folks, but then maybe the insurance companies have twigged onto what you are all doing and adjusted their prices to make it a less appealing option.

yep- spot on jon. It seemed like a good idea at the time tho as i was 18 and paying 800 fully comp on a modded gt 8-) really wish i hadnt now tho

I got raped in my first year, £1400 TPFT for a 1.4 mk3 golf, got up 3 years no claims which brought the price right down, then I got a company car and lost all my NCB however I'm now 25 so my 1.6 polo costs me £480 TPFT :D

^ christ your still getting raped! my g40 costs me around £300 per year fully comp including mods. just shows what a difference the ncb's can make (think I've got 9) my 1.9d skoda pick-up costs me £350 3rd part fire and theft, but I've only got 3 years ncb on that policy

i now how its feels, I've been there, but bite the bullet and itll come down soon enough! now I'm old and have no claims, I'm paying £260 fully comp on my gt :) this will however go up dramatically i imagine when i put the new engine in

if you aint got a job i dont see the point in trying to afford a car or insurance

i've been out of work since december and to be fair its hell and constant stress trying to keep my car on the road with jobseekers alowence i've got another 5months to find a job and cough up enough money for insurance otherwise i'll be back on my bike

I live in the ghetto, I have 0 ncb and I park it on the road :(

I would say it is worth taking the hit on your first year.

I have friends who did their first 2 years cheaper than me by going on their parents policies whilst i had my own policy.

By the time they looked at going on their own they had 0 no claims and i had 2.

IIRC they were still in the 1000s whilst mine was about 450.

Its so hard to find cheap car insurance, it is impossible! I had to pay 2k for my 1l 6n2 on my own policy at 17. Whatever you do, do not go through your parents, this is ILLEGAL and you could get done for fraud. Get your own policy when you can and build up some NCB's.

although its illegal its very hard for them to prove your the main driver and quite easy to blag that your not the main driver. find it funny how everyone stresses this since its been on the news

but it's not really worth it in the long run anyway

Get your own policy but add your parents on as named drivers, this brings the price down.

i paid nearly a grand for insurance on a mini 850cc,first car and that was back in 98,wasnt even a 1ltr lol

but it does come down after a while, just a wallet fuck for the first year or so
