Hey,

i am after a mk3 coupe boot lock, mines seezed and wont lock due to the owner before me not using the lock for over a year.

I need one, but with at least 1 key so i can lock and unlock it.

You might be able to save yours...

If the WD doesn't resolve it you can take it apart and recover it.

Recently managed this on one that had been stood for a month and was solid good and proper.

*Take the button and lock mechanism out of the boot lid

*Take the linkage arm bit out of the button surround

*On the back you'll find a circlip holding the lock barrel in, it's a bit of a pig to remove but patience prevails

*Push the lock barrel out of the plastic button

Once you've got the barrel out you can see what you're dealing with. I left mine to soak overnight in a glass of Coke then another night in white spirit. Spray liberally with WD. Any pins which are stuck can carefully be tapped free using a tiny punch or screwdriver.

Shouldn't take longer than an hour to have a crack at this. Definately cheaper and more convenient than replacing it for one with a different key.
