driving down the highroad today and i was changing a cd i was going about 35ish i think? saw a mobile speed camera and slammed on the brakes i know its completely my fault i understand but now i have realized that I'm on my last chance its sort of open my eyes to driving , i now stay dead on the speed limit all the time til i find out the outcome , and have also found out that driving the speed limit is also dangerous cos you get idiots , sit up your arse.

sometimes safer to sit 5 / 10 mph over the speed limit

3 doesn't normally make too much difference to insurance and that, but if you're still on your probationary license, it puts you on shakey territory.

Goes without saying though, keep your eyes well on what you're doing, it's amazing the amount of stuff you can miss and the distance you travel in a few seconds of distraction.

If someone's tailgating me, they generally end up sat there til I feel like waving them past and applying the "idiot" sign to them.

If they are up your arse and they hit you its their fault!

I hate people that drive up your arse when your doing speed limits, makes you worry about them instead of the road ahead. Wankers.

around by me there are alot of straight open roads that are 30mph, so when I'm doing 30 you can imagine the people right up my ass haha,

bit annoying after a while, then they overtake you and get caught one position ahead in traffic lights!

driving my mams clio up onto a slip road doing about 44 mph (was messing with the radio controls on the steering wheel :( ) limit is 40, noticed a speed camera ontop of the bridge looking at the motorway now I'm shitting i got caught :( haha

Id rather stay at speed limit, maybe the odd 5-10 depending on the road. and this is only where i live as i know the roads back to front.you just gotta be more aware on what you doing. its real easy to get distracted puttin cd in or something but you just gotta watch.

as for tail gaters they are just twats. i just sit at speed limit if anyone does it to me. it annoys the fuck out of um and by the time they get past they only get one place in front and usually stuck at round about.

if people tailgate me on the motorway i move into the middle lane, let them past then move out behind them and give them a taste of their own medicine

if i get tailgated i just remove my foot from the acceleroator.

I'm in the same boat pal i always drive at the speed limit and i know were the cameras are around here but sunday i was looking else were and when i turned back to the road i was in front of a camera doing around an indicated 36 but i know my speedo is out by about 3 mph at 30 so I'm hoping it was about 33 i was doing and i dont get hammered and i get the option of the speed awareness course if it flashed that is as we have 8 cameras round here and only one has film in it so I'm hoping it didnt have film in it

you need ot be doing something like 36/37/38mph in a 30 to get on the speed awarness course.

47 in a 40

57-58 in a 50

Speed cameras usually allow 10% of your speed +1mph (some countys allow +2mph). that coupled with your speedo rolling off the factory a couple mph faster than your going..

I know i sound a bit of a nerd, but it was actully quite intresting the info they feed you at the course!

i always drop my speed bout 5mph below the speed limit when a camera comes up. as in a old car you never know if its gonna be out slightly. i just like to be careful haha.

id hope to get course if got caught, best option and hopefully learn something important, you never know do you.

I quite liked that course. I think they should make people that have been driving for 15+ years take it as a lot of them at mine didn't know much about modern rules and driving. I got caught doing 38 in a 30, they don't get you if your doing below 35 i think.

One of my work mates did the course although he got caught twice in the same place! D'oh. One of the old chaps on the course though the national motorway speed limit was 50mph!

It's true though about the older generation at these courses, i had a few where they all sat together, and would try answer all the question thinking as they had so many years experience they knew everything, but in fact, they got pretty much everything wrong.

I was very supprised when i got to the course, as i was the yougest there at 19, and the second youngest was 25. then after that it was 35+, i was expecting it to be mostly 18-22year olds with maybe one or two 40+'s. Just goes to show really.

with lo pro tyres i find my speedos massivly out anyway, my sat nav will say I'm doing 70 and my clock will be reading 80ish... thats my excuse for speeding everywhere anyway :p

Lincoln bypass springs to mind. Everyone happily does 70, until they get to the camera then slam on the brakes down to 60.

National speed limit on a dual carriageway is 70 FFS

it hasnt come through yet I'm praying it doesnt and if it does i hoping for the chance to do the course my friend was doing 39 and he got to do the course , he said he spent his afternoon with a load of housewifes ho have taken their husbands points , he said it was a great learning curve
