Primer is deceiving.

I remember trying to get one of the lines on the rear quarter right, bearing in mind its not straight anyway. took me fucking ages.

Look at the car now though, and you would have no idea one was dented quite badly ;) (you watch, Rob will look at it and spot it next time he see's the car  )

Looking good though Rob. I'm not fully sold mind, need to see it on the car. Not sure if its going to look a bit like that clio with the stupid smooth front bumper. A little too smooth and flat and nothing to break it up.

  • You don't know the half of it 😉 Possibly ye. Didn't get indoors...again. Obviously not sticking my cock in the right arseholes. Don't think they can appreciate a home grown self built car, that hasn

  • Looks so nice!# Love the colour on those wheels.

  • i dont have any centres on them, there just steels. i didnt have chance to repaint them before i put them on. i sold my G60s for £200, bought these for £50 and then they ended up going on the car

Agreed, not sold at the minute but i'm going to go in to this with an open mind and wait until i see it painted and fitted lol. Its good to be different though. Great work

YES...I've done it again, managed to cause controversy haha.

You all know what I do and what I work on for a living, this won't go anywhere near paint until its perfect. I know the lines out, I know the primer we use at work is of good enough quality that it can be used as a filler primer and can be used to block the line back closer to what it should be.

I went into this with an open mind, had no idea how it was going to turn out and thought there was only one way to find out.

No one can understand how much work this bumper is, has been and will be. Not only have I regrafted a whole bumper, I've had to reshape the whole bumper aswell.

People have always hated something on my car, so what's having a new bumper gonna make a difference.

To be honest I can't even see this "line" thing everyone's on about, looks good!

Why are you being so negative about your car rob? we all appreciate the work thats gone into to it, i was just voicing my opinion kid..

I only hate one thing really, the owner :ninja:

I'm not negative about my car, it's like a mistress to me haha.

There's lovers and haters of it. I know where things need tweaking, but there on the to do list for next week haha.

Shut up Toby, i'm not talking to after seeing that destripped Peugeot of yours last weekend.

looks quality mate ! i reckon its gonna look smart , i also do bodywork as a living and now how you feel the amount of work that goes into custom work is depressing say the least shaping a line on a bumper is a art and like you say even with a guide coat its impossible to tell if its 100% i tend to give it a few coat of white aerosol so it will show any defects on the apiture of the line saves the hassle when you are have primed it and painted it for it to be wrong i also get a light on it at a angle as well and look at the shadows everyone has a different way of doing it keep up good work mate

that bumper looks cool dude

need to do something different with mine when its on the road

as for the line in it i always rub upto masking tape to get it perfectly straight

but looks good to me

Can't use aerosol in the workshop, the boss is paranoid of overspray on the jobs we've got in. And when there all E-Types and other classics in various stages from bare shell to ready to go you can see why.

The line will be sorted, I'll high build prime it, heavy guide coat and shape it that way.

Looking good rob! look forward to seeing it painted 8-)

Won't be any pictures from now on. Now people have seen it and what I've been up to. You'll have to wait until UD now to see the final product ;)

Surprised you put any up anyway actually mate!

I have every faith in your work

  • Author

I did it for one soul purpose...to get people gossiping haha.

Got some rust treatment and welding to do on the car aswell between now and UD.

Nah, I'll just roll past your house and stalk you.

It'll be put on when the Steffans go back on.

Got a patch come through on the drivers sill where the body line is and the sat nav got me lost going to VW action, so I did 15 miles of scrubbing which boiled the paint on the back arches. Not alot really.

yeah! looks smart, I think a shallow splitter will suit it, like a standard valver one, not a gti or caddy one??

and are those your bbs all split up in the background? :ninja:

  • Author

Brand new GTI splitter was bought and paid for lastnight ;)

Not mine. 3 sets of RS's and my RM's which are elsewhere. Got to paint 2 sets Alpine white and 1 set reflex silver.

i really love this car but dooooood- your old wheels look better in my opinion than those played out players BBS's - unless you have something up your sleeve to make them not look like the rest of the dross???

  • Author

Cheers bro.

The wheels were on the car when I bought it coming up 4yrs ago, a change is wanted.

The first parts will be ordered this weekend. It's all going to be in the execution, once there refurbed and I've got new coilovers. It'll be a lot lower than it is atm and sat spot on. Me and my mate spent an hour the other day measuring and doing some calculations on fitment etc.

Trust me. My aim is for them to be on for Polo Show.
