Looks good with the Air mate, Hope you sort the leak and are able to get the front down how you want. Think you should invest in a new grille surround/fettle with current one, doesn't seem to fit too well.

Great effort getting it ready in time though guys. Love the handles, the best new addition imo.

We're already discussing how we can get the front down abit more. Doesn't need much tbh, but something to make it match the rear height.

It is a new one, it fits where it fits, lined straight up with the screw holes.

I'll get some pictures of its running height tomorrow. I run it at a sensible height tbh, that was the purpose for me having it cause country lanes to and from work and living on an estate with horrendous speed bumps was doing my head in static.

Basically I was getting so annoyed with smashing the subframe (not fun at 70mph on the motorway) grinding through my exhaust and getting beached on speedbumps. It was fun while it lasted, but the novelty soon wore off. I've gone the air route for practicality purposes, having the poser factor is just an added extra.

Fair play to you, the car was spectacular static, so now more useable in daily mode and when it comes to shows just "drop it" as an ex owner of "Hoffles" they definately look better colour coded! waiting to see my old ones on Matties 20v conversion

spot on mate id run a smaller tyre on the front for more lows after seeing it at UD but its unique mate hats off to you.

May be worth trying to work out if its that or the bumper, compare it to the blue car above, there is a gap on your drivers side.

One final touch would be to possibly paint the rear number plate light holders?

They are the only think that is now not colour coded trim wise (other than splitter and grilles which should stay black)

I know what your saying Dan, I've fitted a new bumper iron aswell, so it can't be down to the bumper. Everything lined up and fitted up without any issue so I'm at a loss at what the gap all about.

I don't want to go to mad with colour coding cause I think it needs some darkness on there to break the white up abit.

Smaller front tyres won't be necessary, I'll just modify the struts and that will give me all I need. It only needs 1/2" to 3/4" more drop and it'll be spot on.

Anyway, this is the driving height I'm set on. 40psi front and 30psi rear, this is no where near the height it goes.

And the boot, with this set up I still have quite a practical boot space. As said, the tank will be painted shortly with some graphics added.

So Saturday I got the tank out the car and prepped it up.

Coat of wet on wet primer.

Based up silver.

The colour I chose was this.

All done.

Then today the final piece of the puzzle turned up.

So the other day, I decided my rear seat backs needed painting. So that's exactly what I did.

Prepped.

Masked and a coat of etch primer on the bare metal bits.

And some lovely gloss black.

Ignore the glare off the tank, but this shows the reflection on the seat backs.

Backs of my seats needed painting but I just put carpet on them Looking good bet quite a few people with think that's an actual NOS tank.

Rob this just gets better and better mate . I had a look round it at early edition . The door handles are a work of art mate . The air makes a big difference lad with the bbs to . What you got planned next bud ? Good work bud . Dave

A few weeks ago I bought a roof box, wasn't long before I had it in work and got it all stripped down.

All prepped in the booth.

Got the top plastic primed and high builded. Bye bye texture.

The bottom I wanted to keep textured, so I plastic primed it and satin blacked it.

Then the next day, the same day I was due to leave for All Types, I flatted the primer, refitted the box back together and got the top painted.

Stage one: paint it base coat black and prepare a Tesco carrier bag

Stage two: on with the marble paste

Stage three: on with the candy red

Stage four: lacquer

BUT...

Even though I took every precaution in giving good adhesion, I didn't anticipate the gelcoat reacting while on bake.

This was the outcome.

It pretty much did that over the whole box which is fucking annoying but one of those things that can't be prevented. SO...me and my boss overcame the problem quite simply.

Yep, a Sharpie. The idea was that colouring them in black would simulate cracks in marble and tbh it doesn't look that bad.

Then fitted.

2hrs later I was on my way to All Types and the BigSexyRoofbox went down very well and made a few people smile.

And an aerial shot from an upstairs window onto the drive.

I won't lie, I did swear. But these things happen. The fantastic unpredictability of paintwork.

Nope, every stage had plenty of flash off. It was just the solvents reacting with the gelcoat. I knew I may have some sort of issue cause the panel wipe (degreaser) melted the gelcoat when I cleaned it off after prepping. Had to reprep it.

As said, it's just one of those things.

Roofbox sets if off nicely dude! Shame about the gel coat...

Still not feeling the front end, but other than that this is seriously cool man!
I'm really liking it, especially that roofbox haha. I had one that i was going to colourcode but then ended up binning it.
Still wouldnt mind doing it at some point, just to be in with the cool kids like
