the car is fixed...another MOT booked for tomorrow morning which means i shall be taking it for a severe arse ragging before hand to blow it all out and warm it up to fuck.

all sealed up...its just like this for the MOT i will tidy it up and repaint it properly at a later date:

also brush sealed and stone chipped inside the 1/4 panel...car stinks of the shit now.

also 2 weeks ago i shelled out £400 for a full stainless Proflow system which included new brackets, flexi pipes, CAT, mid pipe and back box custom made.

This is why ended up breaking my car....as lovely as it was to look at, when we got it up in the air there was just so much rust dotted about =S

Didn't cost alot to put right...just a day of my time.

Had it retested this morning and it passed with flying colours.

Said the front Tyres are still catching slightly but he let it through.

Must be continuous seem welded for M.O.T mate unless you replace the full sill and spots are good

What?

It was seam welded and as we made a sill section it was plug welded not spot welded.

By the looks of it you've spot welded the the pieced in section of sill at the bottom, its not satisfactory. Unless the tester cant see it, i.e full of seam sealer. I'm not out to ruin your life ha, just trying to help with the test

The top is seam welding and along the spine is plug welded...not spot welded.

I take the comment of "not satisfactory" as an insult...I've worked in a bodyshop since I was 16 and m step dad who helped me has over 30yrs in the motor trade...we both know what's acceptable and what were doing.

Tobes...it's my step dads welding, I can't weld haha. Everything else is my doing.

right then...

a few weeks ago i bought the Bentley gearknob but unfortunatley the red leather was to dark [see below]...so while the trimmer that I've used before was in my mates shop trimming an E-Type i thought id ask him about it and he said he could sort it if i stripped it down.

took atleast 20mins to take the chrome insert out without breaking or scratching it.

compared to my seat:

how it looks now...the knobs with the trimmer been recovered in a lighter red leather:

right then, i was gonna take the car off the road but due to issues it wasnt possible so its been done as a rolling resto...basically get the car all primed and into primer then paint it once its ready.

all the work will be done by myself [strip/fit, prepping, priming and painting] but not the panel work as i cant weld lol...got a good man for that job.

the plan is to have it all ready by UD.

Day 1:

got in early today to start the prep work...the plan was to repair the arches as they looked salvageable without replacing them...oh how i was wrong.

after a cup of tea i got the back up in the air and dropped the bumper off:

this has been the bain of the car to me since I've owned it...bubbly arches:

then i took this to the back of the arches to get the sealer off and see what i was left with:

things werent looking good at this point as the arches just crumbled and flaked away:

end of the sill is now missing:

zinc coated the exposed metal and left them:

so now i require new back arches, which is a set back already...ill order them up next week and see when i can sort them.

the inner arches also require some plating, but nothing to hard to fix.

so with the arches out of bounds i decided to get on with some other jobs i wanted to do.

then some got immature with a marker pen:

Ye, I was gonna go for a shade change to something like Ibis or Frozen but decided to stay candy white.
