i have a 6n 1.6L 8v , every time am on the high way for long distances and am driving at 170 km/hr (105 miles/hr) or more (yes the car can go at 195 km/hr (121.16 miles/hr) .. the speedometer is not wrong cos that was also the speed on my phone's gps ! no mods and standard gearbox) the gear box cracks and breaks down (not instantly but like after a week or so ! ) .. SO WHAT THE HECK IS HAPPENING HERE.. THIS IS THE 3rd GEARBOX IN 1 YEAR :@ :@

p.s. sometimes nothing happens to the gearbox after going at these speeds.

what oil are you using? are the gearboxes recond or scrap yard?

121mph are you sure? not going down hill or something

as you may be aware 6n gearboxes are made from chocolate!

and going at that kind of speed will put extra strain on your gearbox

My Mates on his 5th in his valver hes had his 18 months!!

Perhaps just drive slower. The car and gearboxes weren't designed to be used at those speeds and under those stresses all the time.

the gearbox is out of a scrapyard but it was in a perfect condition ..and no i wasn't going down a hill :p

and people do not tell me are you sure about the speeds cos am damn sure this car is capable of strange stuff .. try yourselves !! go to the autobahn in gemrany and just kick down when you are on the fifth gear wait for a couple of seconds and voila your on 121 miles/hr or worst cases 115 miles/hr

oil gets too thin at temperature. So your high speed runs probably wont be doing it any favours

You ever had a rebuilt gearbox? or just replaced it with one that will carry the same faults as the one youve removed?

just changed the gearbox(the standard) with another one (also the standard) .. cos i really don't know any other gearboxes that fits the 6n .. so what is better than the 6n's standard 1.6L 8v gearbox ?
