Are you joking? This place is full of Mk2/3 fanboys! There were nowhere near as many Mk4 owners when I joined, and that's only 3 years ago.

mate this forum is full of info on the early polo's and people that know them inside out. with nothing but info found on this forum i've converted my mk3 spi to AFH running the oem mk4 polo injection system, no other forum that i have found had any where near the amount of knowledge and advice i found on the conversion as i found on here (not even any where close).

the problem i find with this site is the search function, but i've found it easier to type my search into google and it normally finds the link i need on club polo

lol. pissed posting, but theres a lot of is early owners here/

the mk1,2 & 3's also have there own dedicated forum elsewhere. the condescending (i had to use a spell checker) is to do with newbies not being able to to spot the word SEARCH in the top corner or being bothered to open there eyes and look in the topics to see if the question has been asked before, example being "how to i fit bike carbs" when there happens to be huge topic normally at the top in the FAQ question.

Mclovin: i noticed that, if i want to find something in here quickly then google is the easiest, if i want to run through every single topic with a word match then i use the forum one.

As said, some choose to use a different site which is exclusive to pre-94 models.

This site has evolved with the times though - When i joined in '95 the MK2/F's were typical small old budget cars and the 6n was too new. Now the 6n is the 9n, and 9n's are equally scarce whilst the 6n is in its finest budget hour. The 9n will get more popular over the next few years as the 6n's rot away.

The pre-'90 cars are now in a classic age, beyond being chosen for budget, and this has had an effect on their place on a site that increasingly covers modern cars they bear virtually no relation to.

Mikey, how do you manage to make so much sense? lol!!

agreed with mikey got it in a nut shell

Owning a mk2 you are caught between a number of websites. The other pre 94 site is great but I have felt owning a car with a carburetor this forum still has the core knowledge for these cars. There are number of people on here who really know there stuff when it comes to mk2's and all the little bugs that can occur.

I find that just about every club or forum I contribute I am pretty much only interested in the mk1-mk3's across all the vdubs (as long as the mk3 golf has a Vento front end lol). Seriously though I was flicking through some Performance VW mags I have from when I could afford to buy every copy and I'm only finding about a quarter of each mag of any interest (basically retro content). I just don't have any interest in 6n's or Mk4 golfs, basically totally different cars.

I suppose I am being a hypocritical in a sense because of the potential engine swaps available from later cars e.g.16v engine from a later car in a mk2 Polo or VR in a mk2 Golf.

Technical parts of this forum tend to have less of the back chat. It might seem a bit hostile sometimes but a lot of people ask the same questions a lot when the answers are in the search engine. I met a young lad recently (I'm an old fart) with a really nice mk3(mk2f) polo and I asked if he was on Club Polo and he said "No, I've heard their really nippy on there". This kind of saddened me. All I would say is stand your ground, be brave and express all your views with an IMO. I still have to watch how I word things on forums because there are always smart arses there to pounce.

Have a look on POLO3 mate...thats what they're trying to tell you.

the problem with p3 is that the tech sections (and the site in general) are not very active. also i don't see how you can say that the info on this site is mostly newer polo's, if you look in the engine section now half of the threads on the first page are for early polo's and most of the FAQ is for them too

Mikey, how do you manage to make so much sense? lol!!

Intermittently.. :smirk: Though i do try to keep it as real as i can whenever blazoning my views about,so i can appreciate it when people agree with me.

Have a look on POLO3 mate...thats what they're trying to tell you.

I'm sure the swear filter should have changed that?

i dont know why theres a rivalry between the two forums =/

crazyness!

I thought that, hence why i never typed it in.

it all stems back to when club polo got rid of the off topic section, every one that was only here for that (including me lol) moved over to polo3. guess it's because the site was created out of some thing that pissed a fair few people off at the time. since then it seem's to of become a haven for people who have been given abuse on here for not being able to use some form of English so i guess that's just added to the resentment towards this site?

^.... :lol::?

^^i'll admit it's been a while since the last time i really looked around the site so it may be different now, but the last time i did it was fully of people using text speak. it's just seems to be a magnet for people who get pissed off with this site, even jons set up home on there now

i joined polo3 because a few of my friends who used to post on here, started up the site and spent alot of time on there, i like helping people out with tech questions where i can and there is some good pinned topics in the main sectons and good guides in the knowledge section. it would be good to consolidate some of the information on here that is applicable towards the mk1-3s on there, as it could hold a central repository, but some of the best information is scattered about in the tens of thousands of posts on here, something with polo3 doesnt have, yet.

i like both, have no beef with either, just frequent one forum more than the other as its far easier, and I'm a creature of habit.

i dont really care where the information came from in terms of what site it is on, as long as credit goes to the original poster, hence links I've posted here pointing to polo3, stuff on polo3 pointing to clubpolo, and putting links to the guides for 256mm vauxhall conversions taken from the vw mk1 golf owners club, which was in turn taken from the caddy forum.

and guy thats a crap excuse, everywhere is off topic, you just have to be creative =D

not back then it wasn't saf, if you took a thread off topic you faced a ban iirc, gay times.

Polo3 was a good site, kinda lost a lot of its appeal for me tho when vick and joel stopped posting and i got banned. Been on there since and its not the same tbh.

Well Polo3 has changed now we dont go banning people just for the sake of it :? obviously we cater for the more old skool polos but we have members joining up who have mk4s and even guys who dont even have polos join..we are trying to grow things maybe slow from time to time but its getting there,,,where even starting to produce some polo3 merchandise 8-) ..

I felt that on my first visit,Polo3 had its page designed by a 14yo, with a chav-influenced 'car of the month' to back it up at the time. It always dumped me at the bottom of the page with every click no matter what phone i use,and the pictures are all full size so most of them dont develope.

Then there was very little going on,there. But for pictures i cant see,of course.

I've visited just a couple of times in the last couple of years as a result, and it just seems a shame it doesn't appear to be the site i was hoping for. I hope it matures - and i hope people will notice it,but i aint holding my breath.

This place may seem full of male students driving rusty 1.4i 6n's with no springs and wide wheels, but they help the rest of us all keep it rollin' hard and thus it remains an interesting site with plenty of people owning a wide range of Polos, carrying a wide range of ideas/interest etc.

whats wrong with having car of the month? i dont see anything remotely chav about it.

theres loads of info on there if people bother to look at the how-to section and the tech areas

granted its not the busiest forum, but then i guess most of the owners must be out earning a living during the day.

I think the main reason I don't use Polo3 is because I seriously don't like the layout and presentation. Dark forum themes died 5 years or so ago for good reason, the basic Invision board theme on CP is far better. Also, sigs are gay.

^^ I dont see a strong fault with my grammar, but you've mis-read my point. I was talking about the particular car of the month itself - not the concept of it.

Fuck you Mikey! I ain't missed anything!!!

:p
