1.4 16V Turbo kit

Featured Replies

After hunting high and low for tuning options on my sport 100 1.4 polo i have stumbled across a 1.4 turbo kit. I've dismissed a 1.8T engine swap as ideally i would like to keep the 1.4 and do something different.

I've discussed NA tuning with Regal Autosport in Southampton, after reading this

The 1.4 Golf put down near enough 140bhp which isn't bad tbh. However they have recently had this turbo kit released for the smaller engined VAGs. Anyone heard anythign about the kits ?? apparently they are quite new on the market and come complete bolt on with the exception of the software flash to the ECU.

Chris @ Regals reckons with the turbo kit and the Dbilas cams and inlet manifold it could be knocking on the door of 190-200bhp 8-)

190 to 200 bhp will guarantee knocking, most likely the bottom end ;)

you'd want forged internals if your going to attempting to double the output of your motor

i agree you would need forged internals , upgraded braking and look into a different gearbox 180-200 bhp put through a standard 1.4 gearbox would max the box out in no time i would of thought . does look like a sweet bit of kit tho ! did the guy give you a price on the whole set up ?

Looking at the prices of other work they have carried out it seems like a pointless venture. Fooking expensive. Engine conversion.

They took a corsa C to 180bhp and that stage it had the Flowtech manifold upgrade with included software at £1085 and the Stage 1 Dbilas turbo kit iat £4500.

Fair enough if that is what you want but an engine conversion will cost around that and you will be seeing a fair bit more power and reliability.

Forget turbo kits and do it yourself lol

:D

Apparently the 165 kit will run on standard internals, but if combined with the Dbilas stuff then they have said new pistons and rods will be required. Brakes are already in the pipeline so this is sorted :)

Just waiting on prices to come through, fingers crossed.

Appreciate the conversion route would probably be the same cost wise, but i haven't seen many done in the polo well tbh. I thought it would have been easier due to the GTI having it in as OEM fitment, just means you have to bend over the counter at the local stealers for parts instead !

A decent 'reputable' 180 K03s engine with box is still around £1000, the BAM 225 is even more :(
