Co-op Insurance, abnormally cheap!?

Featured Replies

Hi, so I've just done a quote on a 1.4 16v polo 6n, had my license 5 months, done the quote as a named driver on mums policy,

Co-op = £1100

Confused.com cheapest = £4000

Have I done something wrong cus that seems crazily cheap, my mate was getting very cheap quotes on a punto as well, his were like half the price of competitors on confused.com, maybe they're desperate to get people to sign up maybe?

Any advice much appreciated :)

I'm with co-op on my own policy. I built up 3 years no claims with them as a named driver on my Dad's policy whilst i was a student.... They do favour young drivers too from what my Dad was telling me. I also get a further 15 percent discount too!

CO-OP ALL THE WAY! lol

There the only company that are cheap and offer decent service and decent extra's like European cover ;) at no extra cost :p

do they allow mods, I'm sure it didnt ask if my car was modified..

Na i told them mine anyway because they don't mind unless its major engine mods..like ermm nitrous :p

Co-op insurance is just a win to be fair! Haha

I went on the 'Aviva Deal' and for my 1.0L polo is was £4k! Thats right 4k.

Where as on Carole Nash insurance, for me at 17 just passed would cost me 2.1k to drive a 2.0L Turbo charged Saab 900, insurance is ridiculous these days. And police and insurance companies question and wonder why young drivers drive around with no insurance!

On the up side £500 pound fully comp i finally got with co-op. = Win. :-p8-)

Jake!

I get staff discount with um, may give them a try this time.

However, i cant see them liking the rather long list of modifications lol.

Holy mother of...

I haven't started Driving yet but I'm looking to get a 1 litre mk3 as soon as possible (preferabley before my 17th birthday in a few months) The cheapest quote (after I pass) would have been around £3000 on confused. Co-Op is giving me £738 with my Dad as the first named driver, i'm over the moon.

i was insured with them and they woudlnt allow any mods. not even vw alloy wheels. do insurance companies just make up their own rules?

whey guna go get a quote now cheers :D and Don

Ok so it is a legit quote and not a load of bollocks lol by the sounds that everyone loves co op insurance as its cheap and cheerful?

Anyone had any bad experiences with them?

If they don't accept mods its useless to more than 50% of the people on here

Like i said before they will only attack you if they major engine mods..Co-op know about my coilovers, my steels, my induction kit, jusss not my nitrous lol..but if i have an accident they wont do me for not declaring the obvious mods..

if you crash and you havnt declared your coilovers yooouuu innn ttrrrooouubbblllleee...

Not being funny, but isnt the nitrous the main one that they will rape you for if you crash? And in a crash they wont do you for every mod, they will take one mod (no matter how small) that isnt declared and thats it, your policy is voided and you're technically uninsured. Thats another kettle of fish though....

Cornish lad, if your 17 a modded car will get you hammered on insurance its just the way of the world I'm afraid

Like i said the nitrous is anything was too happen its too hidden for them to know dont forget it takes them a month to send some to inspect it..all my mods never cost me money on insurance, thats why i declared all the obvious ones, anything hidden wont matter but the fact you cant put your foot under my car is abit obvious :p

so if you crash and you are unconcious your gonna get you are car home for a month before the police recover at scene of accident, and if someones injured/killed they can strip it fully down? saying its 'hidden' is utter shit, hence why companies charge more for engine mods compared to aesthetics, so yeah, your mates may not have been caught etc, but is it really worth the risk of losing your license for paying out £1000's for invalid insurance?

Firstly i can assure you that if i crash my car hard enough to knock me unconscious i wont be around to see the aftermath and secondly how many policemen do you know that check the boot when you've crashed or any part of the car for that matter, because i can assure you they don't check shit because it has nothing to do with them..

think about what you say before you start to comment..

the police dont check you are car.

lots of people are involved in accidents where they get taken away in an ambulance. the police wont check you are mods, however, cars are often sent away to be analysed for causes of crash etc, so when they strip your car down I'm sure theyd notice your nos tucked away.

I'm not moaning at u for not declaring, i dont give a shit if you lose you are license or get into debt paying off things you could have avoided, only saying dont give advice to people that u can get away with it when theres a chance you wont.

I beg to differ they do not take the car away i have written off a car with my brother both of us taken away in an ambulance and the car left, they called my next of kin to ask where they car is to be taken, all the police do is move it off the road to prevent further incidences occurring..

it depends on the circumstances. i did say that before. i said they COULD analyse your car, not if you crash they will take it away. its a chance. had the feeling youd say youd been in that situation to try make me look wrong lol lol lol.

na i have when i find the pictures ill post them up for you..lol i was just saying mate its the way you come across when you post your comments..no need for aggression..wooo-saaa..

yeah well I'm only making the point no matter how much somethings ''hidden'' it can still be discovered. people have been caught with a remap, and a totally standard car, they do find these things out.

ok its low risk, but its still a risk, therefore its not good to advise people it will be fine not declaring etc, cause then if they end up licenseless or in prison or something youd probably feel bad for giving that advice.
