Okay well i'm thinking in about 10 months time or so, but i'm all of a sudden quite into lupos.

I have looked at Lupo sport 1.4 16v's and they look like fun.

I'm not sure how it would compare to my mk3 polo but just wondered if anyone has had one and what they think.

Are they really that small??? I'm thinking i would strip out the back seats anyway as i've never got anymore than 2 people in my car anway lol.

I can't really think of a car that is of a similar spec engine/power wise that i can get insured on and that catches my attention.

He's had loads of mk3s and a Lupo Sport.

I expect it'd feel alot nicer to drive than a mk3 and handle better too.

Lupo Sport is in a totally different league to a mk3 Polo. Don't get me wrong I love my mk3 Polos and its quite rare if I don't own one but the Lupo is a better car. Handles much better, interior is such a nice place to be. Even though its a small car it feels really big inside. Feels bigger in my Lupo than it does in Vento! Styling wise I don't think they need much, some nice wheels and a bit of lowering like most Volkswagens, lol. I'd say go for it. Only things you need to watch out for are pedal boxes as the clutch pedal can snap off them, gearboxes as they are made of chocolate and rust by the roof rails. Mine had the pedal box go but Volkswagen replaced it under good will. I dunno if they still would with the cars being quite old now. The oldest ones are about 12 years old now!

I'm looking at 2000/2001 model and it won't be for about 9 months mainly for insurance.

I was wondering if you could use bits from the newer 100bhp model to give it a couple of extra horses lol

Also where can you get coilys for them?

Also do you have to declare stripping a cars back seats out with insurance etc...

i think your insurance is cheaper if you rip the rear seats out? something to do with less passengers I've heard.

Coilovers you ca get from ebay or KamRacing , I had a lupo 1.0 and it was a tiny car but it was massive inside . As soon as you lower it it just grips

I've had a lupo sport, really fun car i had a blue one with 10k on it when i bought it, pulled well in higher rev range but a bit slow under 2.5k. Not everyones driving style is suited to a 16v. The standard rims are really nice just needed lowering i've also had a lupo sport in tdi form which had been lowered that was much better than the 16v in every respect mpg, torque, surprise etc.

I've got a loop gti and its awsome to drive well in a totaly diffrent leauge to a mk3 polo

I understand that they do a 1.4 16v with 100bhp but also 75bhp.

I think i would be happy with a 75 purely because of having spi polo but if i could get insured then the 100bhp obviously sounds good lol.

Lupo sport 1.4 16v 100 bhp came with rear centre exhaust and alloys, plus different interior to 1.4 16v 75bhp lupo.

The lupo gti was a 1.6 16v - 125bhp but very light and lower that a sport. I had a y plate lupo gti.

The tdi sport is 75bhp but in my opinion a much better car than the petrol sport and 75bhp 16v as it has loads of low down torque and is brilliant to drive.

I went from a 1.3cl Mk3 to a Lupo Sport (100bhp)

I loved my slammed Mk3 but the Lupo is amazing even with standard Sport suspension, I had Compo TH Mono's and they suited it really well!

Would definately buy another Lupo given the chance!

Go for the 100bhp, drove the 75bhp one as well and it just didnt have the same appeal.

The cams in the 100bhp are lairy at about 3-3.5k and it goes well.

I'm roughly on a budget of 1500 pounds but i've looked on autotrader and i can only see the 75bhp model, is it out of the price range or just that autotrader is wrong lol???

Watch out for them burning oil as the engines are known for being a bit weak. They're suprisingly roomy inside in the front, can't say I've ever tried (or would manage) to get in the back of one.

I have a Lupo sport, they are 100bhp engine.

The 75bhp isn't a sport, it's an 'S' which is basically an 'E' version wth optional extras like colour coded mirrors, pop out windows etc.

The petrol range goes:

E, S, SE, Sport, Gti

The sports are quite hard to come by at times so keep keen when looking and I hope you find a nice one
