Hi, daft as it seems i get home from work today and find a letter explaining that i was seen throwing a banana skin out of my window onto a public highway and if i do not confirm that i was the person driving at the time, i will have legal action taken against me. Which i figure court or a fine.

Really can't be arsed with this right now or any time to be fair. any advice please?

Ask them for photo evidence, as you can't remember the incident and it could have been a mate driving

If it were a crisp packet fair enough you shouldn't litter but a bannana skin is biodegradable and would rot away in a few days if it dident it would be eaten by a animal. I would let them know how stupid and uneducated they are.

i'd ask them who has accused me of throwing it, iirc the government started a scheme encouraging people to grass up people they saw throwing liter from a car. if this has been done off the back of some busy body phoning their hotline then i'd be very surprised (and worried) if they can actually do any thing about it unless you admit to it.

or reply back and say that it couldn't be you because you don't like banana's and you don't eat them so it couldn't be you.

The CPS won't pay for that to go to court lol and if they did the magistrate would probably just bollock the prosecution for wasting his time. As above, request evidence then deny all knowledge!

who is the letter from? this sounds such a crazy story, just submit banana skin for speeding, and think same as above, no proof, no proof it was you, etc

can you take a picture of the letter?

if it is not council or police then i would not worry, if it is just an individual then that is pure crazyness

I'm not at home this week so don't have the letter to hand but by the sounds of it I must have been driving in front of of an environmental health officer as the person who saw me wrote the letter. I think its lame just don't really want I fine... Thanks for the replies
