Will a gearbox from a polo 6n2 1.4 8v fit a polo 6n 1.4 8v ?????

Also this is probably a stupid question but where do i find my gearbox code.

If yours is a cable change box most likely, if rod change no, what year is your car? If its later than an R with mk4 golf style clocks and flat blade style keys then its prob cable change. We got stung trying to fit an earlier box to a cable change car theres no mounting flange for the cable mech. Make sure its a 6n2 8v too,

the gearbox code is stamped on top of the engine side of the bell housing just under the dizzy :-)

Mine is a p reg yeah it is rod type gear linkage, so your saying it wont fit. yes it is a 1.4 8v

if its a rod is wont fit

you might be able to convert it to cable by taking out the rod assembly and replacing the whole gearstick assembly

with one from a polo with cable shift
