Can anybody help? Went out on saturday and helped my nephew choose a car, we found a 1998 Polo 1.6 for sale for £1000 and was very clean, drove well etc. It turns out to be a German import which isn't a problem but the insurers need to know what the English equivalent is before insuring. It is a 1998 model 1.6 3 door. It has power steering, electric mirrors and electric windows.The German model is called the 55. Is it a CL?? Dunno, anyone help???

If it's got steel wheels it probably is a CL. But try comparing it with CL's, GL's etc, failing that, ring your local VW agent with the VIN number,they should be able to give you the details.
